The TCL World University Esports Championship is returning to the UK with the FC25 National Tournament at the University of Warwick.
TCL World University Esports Championship to compete on FC25
The tournament, which will take place in October, will see students from UK universities or colleges compete in the newly released FC25. The initiative will be sponsored by electronics company TCL, to provide opportunities for personal achievement and creative expression through gaming.
Participants will first compete within their universities or colleges, with each institution hosting an internal competition. The winners will advance to represent their institution in the national online tournament. The top four players will then face off in the grand final, with a prize pool of £1,000 and a TCL television.
The format will be split into three stages:
University Internal Tournament: 27th September – 10th October
Online Tournament (1st & 2nd Rounds): 12th – 13th October 19th – 20th October
Grand Final: 26th October, 2-5pm
Registration will begin on September 27 and last until October 4. The grand final will take place at the Esports Centre of the University of Warwick.

University of Warwick continues its commitment to esports
Based in Coventry, England, the University of Warwick has one of the most established university esports programmes, having opened its own esports centre in 2021 and received a £135,000 grant from the government in 2022. The University has partnered up with several major stakeholders in the esports industry, including South Korean esports organisation Gen.G to run an ‘Esports Winter Camp’ for students and host the ESI Next Gen conference with Esports Insider.
