Everyone wants to know how to get free skins in Fortnite, but can it even be done? Given the huge money Fortnite brings in for Epic Games, there’s definitely a big focus on paid skins. However, that doesn’t mean Fortnite doesn’t give some away for free. Players can amass quite a wardrobe with the right tactics and patience to collect free skins.

If you want to know how to get free skins in Fortnite, Epic has given out a decent amount over the years. They’re actually pretty regular. If you factor in how quickly players unlock a Battle Pass, then you’ll find even some of the best and rarest Fortnite skins have come for free in the past.

You won’t be able to flick a switch and have the Item Shop suddenly turn every paid skin into one for free. However, there are a few different ways you can get specific cosmetics for free.

Felina – New Free Fortnite Skin

This year we’ve had another free Fortnite skin added to the game, the Felina skin! This is a fresh look with a unique mechanic this time. How can you claim it though?

Before December 9th, gain 25 account levels

Account Levels are different from Battle Pass levels, so you’ll just have to play as normal until you reach this point. It won’t take too long though if you’re playing regularly. The Felina skin also has different rarities which will unlock depending where you reach in Fortnite Ranked. You’ll get a different colored accent on the skin for each rank attained.

Felina is actually the second skin unlocked in this way. We also got Chrome Punk with the same method years before. We might see Epic adding free skins this way again in 2026.
