The biggest event in Fortnite is returning soon, with the FNCS Divisional Cups starting up! These are a new type of tournament, but they’re the entry-level to the Fortnite Champion Series. The main event for each season of Fortnite, which runs from the start of the Chapter before concluding with a major at the end of the year.
The FNCS Divisional Cups began in December, with the earliest tests to determine where players sit in the divisions. However, they have taken a long break for Winterfest 2024. To prevent the holidays from interfering with schedules along with the holiday items mixing things up for players trying to compete. Now they’re starting back up again though. How do the Divisional Cups work and how can you get involved?
FNCS Divisional Cups
The FNCS Divisional Cups are a new format for the FNCS in 2025. Under the new structure, players first took part in an FNCS trial. After that, their results placed them into tiers. Now, each week players compete in these cups.
The cups are divided into Divisions 1, 2, and 3. It’s all based on tournament performance too. Your place in Ranked has no bearing on any of this. Players in Division 1 get cash prizes and try to place in the finals. The other divisions are competing to get promoted up to higher divisions. At the end of these cups, those in Division 1 can compete in the FNCS Major Play-In. This decides who actually competes in the Major 1 Finals this year.
How Do the Division Cups Work?
The FNCS Divisional Cups are a new addition to the tournament roster this season. They’re going to be played in a similar format to most of Fortnite esports events though.
These events are played one per region, so you’re tied to the region you want to compete in. Players can compete in their division based on their past results. Each event is divided into Day 1 and Day 2, with a three-hour session for each. Players can get through up to 6 matches in this time, earning points from placement and kills. At the end, they’ll be placed on a leaderboard based on their performance. With the best players moving higher in the divisions.
The FNCS Divisional Cups aren’t going to be broadcast or a focus for Fortnite betting. However, they will determine which players rise up to take part in those tournaments, so they’re worth paying attention to even if you’re not competing yourself.
