As Valve moved from CS:GO to CS2, it changed how fast weapon switching worked. Previously, you could bind several actions to one button, which made things easier, but sadly that’s no longer possible. Not to worry, though, you can still fast switch in Counter-Strike 2. It’s not even difficult, either.

What is Counter-Strike Fast Switch for Weapons?

A Counter-Strike fast switch is when you switch to your knife and back to your gun. When using this with an AWP, for example, it prevents an automatic re-scope. On other guns, it can also be used to cut short the reload animation just a tad, but it could be the difference between getting a kill or not. Using fast weapon switching isn’t mandatory, but it’s a small marginal gain you can make to get better at CS2.

Counter-Strike 2 Fast Weapon Switching

In order to fast weapon switch in CS2, you’ll need to set up what’s called a quickswitch bind. You can do this by opening your console in-game (press the tilde ~ key). Then, enter the following command:

  • alias +switchw “slot3”; alias -switchw “lastinv”; bind “Q” +switchw

This will bind the Q key to automatically do a CS2 fast weapon switch. If you want to change the key to fit your own setup, simply change the Q in the above command to your desired key. It’s important that when pressing the fast weapon switch key, you don’t hold it down. It’s the release of the key that triggers the return to the original weapon, so it won’t work if you don’t do this step. Overall, this is one of the easiest CS2 commands to get working, and can be extremely useful on the server. Don’t sleep on this one!
