G2 CEO Alban Dechelotte has confirmed that the organization is set to part ways with m0NESY from its CS2 team. The young Russian AWPer has been a talisman for the team since his arrival at the start of 2022, with a move set to end his three-and-a-half-year stint with the organization.

Just minutes after G2 lost to Falcons in the Final of PGL Bucharest 2025, G2 CEO Alban Dechelotte took to X to confirm the long-standing rumors of m0NESY’s departure. According to Dechelotte, m0NESY’s contract expiring in December was a key factor in the decision, claiming G2 “decided to maximize our chance of rebuilding our team for the future with this trade instead of hoping for a last minute turn of events.”

Dechelotte described the AWPer as “becoming a bit disconnected from the rest of the team due to his situation,” which would then spill into contract discussions with any future players, too. Despite losing m0NESY, G2 will “prepare for the next season with ambition,” stopping short of confirming exactly who the team plans to pick up in his place.

Rumors about m0NESY’s departure have always centered around one team: Falcons. The Saudi Arabian organization purchased NiKo from G2 back in December, and have returned for another of their key pieces. A reunion between the two would almost certainly cement Falcons as one of the best CS2 teams in the world, although G2’s CEO did not confirm exactly where m0NESY is headed.
