This week, Fortnite is coming back to mobile devices much more widely, meaning now only consoles have their own fees in the item shop. To address this, Epic is launching a new system called Epic rewards. This is a system where players can get money off every purchase with V-Bucks sent back, but not just in Fortnite. They’re going to work with purchases in Rocket League, Fall Guys, and some titles in the Games store overall.

For most Fortnite seasons, purchases in the item shop are the same on every platform, but Epic’s profits are different depending on the device. The consoles, and previously mobile, charge a fee to use their marketplace. Meaning while the V-Bucks is the same as PC, Epic makes less per purchase. They’ve decided to start giving PC and other players the difference back, to encourage players to use the fee-less platforms for their purchases.

Essentially, if you buy an item in the right place, you’ll save 20% from now on. How will Epic Rewards work and how can you make the most out of the system?

Epic Rewards – New System for Fortnite Purchases

Today, Epic has announced a brand-new system, Epic Rewards. A method to unlock a 20% return on your V-Bucks, but not just in Fortnite. The new system is going to apply to Fortnite, Rocket League, Fall Guys, and even other purchases in the Epic Game Store. On purchases in Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys, all transactions done through Epic will be credited back 20% to your rewards balance. You can then trade this in for more currency in each of the games!

The returned currency should be available after 14 days. It’ll then show up in the Epic Rewards section of your account. This is easiest viewed on the Epic website. Then you can use it in the Item Shop again.

This means the given price of an item in the shop won’t change. However, you’ll receive 20% of your purchase back! Players will be able to make use of the system no matter which platform they mainly play on too.

How to Save Money on Every Platform

Even if you’re a console player, you can make use of Epic Rewards. Since the Fortnite item shop now exists on the web as well as in the game itself, all you need is an internet browser. Logged into your Epic account, you’ll just need to make your purchases through the website from now on. This will mean you qualify for Epic Rewards!

In actual terms, players don’t need to change how they play. Once they make their mind up in the item shop, just open up the web shop and you’ll get 20% of your purchase back. It’s designed just to circumvent platform fees, so this workaround has probably been in mind since the web item shop was launched.

It should be similarly simple to use a PC to make purchases in Rocket League or Fall Guys too. While the prices might not be changing, the new system will mean every 5 purchases in these games, you’ll get the currency to get another for free.
