The next update to Fortnite is going to be a big one, adding the Star Destroyer into the game. We’ve already had quite a lot of Star Wars content over the month, but one of the most exciting features that they’ve been holding back has been the Fortnite Star Destroyer update. It’s going to be a huge mechanic where players can decimate the lobby from the sky.

We already have Fortnite X-Wings and TIE Fighters. However, the Star Destroyer will be joining them to complete the iconic Star Wars vehicles. Unlike the other two though, the Star Destroyer isn’t going to be a general vehicle on the map to drive. It’ll be closer to the boss transformations we’ve had in the past like Godzilla, and Doctor Doom. This is what we know about the Fortnite Star Destroyer feature that’s coming:

We’ve known a Star Destroyer update was coming since the start of the current Fortnite season, lined up as our final update before we reach the season’s end date. It’s going to add the Star Destroyer into the game.

In a game with the Destroyer active, there’s a portal on the map. Just like for Godzilla, players will have a race to reach the portal in its random location. Once there, you interact and disappear into a rift. You’ll then take over control of the Star Destroyer in the sky!

This big ship will have a laser which can destroy players from the atmosphere. It’ll likely have a slight health bar too, so players can fight back against whoever gets the new Star Destroyer transformation. We won’t see this kind of feature in Fortnite tournaments, but it’ll make the game fun for the one player to actually get into the portal.

Star Destroyer Update Release Date

The new Fortnite Star Destroyer update is going to be the next patch for the game. With just days left before the live event that ends the Fortnite season, when exactly will that be? We’re expecting the update to come on May 29th. They’ll be around a week to enjoy the feature before we move on from Star Wars. Probably for a while at least.
