Vayne has been rather unpopular in the last few seasons. Her kit didn’t really fit the meta and it brought the devs to buff her this season. Thanks to the new build and buffs they have given her throughout the year, she has been slowly finding increasing success.
She is now also able to fight against squishier team comps and doesn’t only counter beefy frontlines with the true damage on her W. That being said, Vayne requires great supports to have enough time to scale and reach her power spikes. Not all champions work well with her, and it’s crucial to know exactly which are better.
For that reason, we have compiled a list of the best supports to play alongside Vayne. By explaining their strength and weaknesses, you will know better how a specific duo functions.
Lulu – the no. 1 support for Vayne
With Milio getting consecutive nerfs this year, Lulu has gone back as the best support champion for Vayne. She offers a great amount of peeling power thanks to her Polymorph (W) and Help, Pix! (E), which gives a shield and a good attack speed bonus. And in case that wasn’t enough, she can still ult her with Wild Growth (R).

The two will struggle a little more early on, but as long as you’re able to handle the pressure and farm your way up without bleeding too much advantage, this bot lane will gain increasing importance going into the mid-late game.
Milio – The best Lulu alternative
Since Milio got nerfed, he’s now only picked as a Lulu alternative. This is because, compared to the other enchanter, Milio struggles more to peel her ADC in the early game with the lower shields. His Q is also harder to land in most scenarios. Having said that, Milio can be picked when you’re playing against team comps with lots of crowd controls and you want to have the ability to cleanse those effects.

Thresh – the best engager support for Vayne

Having said that, Thresh’s playstyle changes heavily when playing with Vayne. Of course, he can still grab champions and take engages, but Thresh has more of a peeling function with Vayne.
The goal is to have Thresh stop any incoming engage that might put Vayne’s life in danger. Use the lantern (W) or Flay (E) to protect her and the ultimate (R) if needed. Remember that it slows targets by 99% for 2 seconds, making it perfect for neutralizing enemies. If you want to play Vayne, Thresh is going to be no. 1 choice for engage supports.

Nami – another enchanter support option for Vayne
With most enchanters being nerfed heavily, Nami is one of the few who’s still holding strong which works quite well with Vayne. Her heals allow the ADC to get an easier time during the laning phase and put her into a position to scale faster.
As Nami, your goal is to help Vayne handle the minion waves and avoid getting crashed hard on a big wave. If you get dove in those situations and either of you dies, you will end up losing quite a lot of minion experience and gold which can heavily slow down your game. Remember that both of you are squishy: track well the enemy jungler to know when you’re under threat.
Senna – the meta support pick
Another enchanter support that has been rising in popularity is Senna. Thanks to her recent item path changes, she is now providing more healing and a more supportive playstyle.
When playing this bot lane, you want to avoid any heavy early skirmishes and focus on farming as much as possible. Vayne is weaker than most ADC early on, so don’t trade aggressively unless you’re able to get some free harass onto the enemies. Senna should be primarily looking to fix bad waves and weave in small auto attacks trade whenever possible.
Once the latter gets at least two items then Vayne will become relevant in teamfights. Senna’s job will be to heal up and stay close to Vayne in case she is in danger. Use the ultimate if necessary to shield her or snipe escaping enemies.
