Black Myth: Wukong is a new release, and as with many other recent games, it’s not exactly bug-free. Luckily, the game’s PC version has an excellent solution for players suffering from some of the more egregious issues, such as crashes and lag: Compatibility Mode. Curious to know more about how to use Black Myth: Wukong Compatibility Mode? Read on!
What is Black Myth: Wukong Compatibility Mode?
Explaining Black Myth: Wukong’s Compatibility Mode is simple. It deactivates numerous features on the PC version of the game to theoretically give you more stability across the board. This will mean some compromise; for example, V-Sync will be turned off, among other features that really are designed for top-of-the-line gaming PCs.
There’s not all that much to it. If you’re trying to play the game on a much older PC, then you’re much more likely to find Compatibility Mode useful.
Launching Black Myth: Wukong in Compatibility Mode
It’s very easy to play Black Myth: Wukong in Compatibility Mode. When launching the game, you’ll be presented with the option – simply make sure it’s checked! You don’t have to do anything else.
If, for some reason, the option isn’t appearing for you on Steam, right-click Black Myth: Wukong in your library and hit “Properties.” From there, on the “General” tab, click the drop-down menu under “Launch Options.” You’ll be able to manually select Compatibility Mode for Black Myth: Wukong from there.
Should I use Black Myth: Wukong Compatibility Mode?
So you know how to use Compatibility Mode, but now the question remains: should you? When first launching the game, we’d say no. Try the full experience first and see if you encounter any problems Compatibility Mode would solve. You may find you don’t need it.
If your game has severe lag, stuttering, or crashes consistently, causing you to lose progress, then it’s time to get down with Black Myth: Wukong’s Compatibility Mode.
