All MultiVersus Ranks and How to Climb

MultiVersus has just launched its second season! There are loads of new content like characters. However, one mode is the biggest attraction to serious players, the return of MultiVersus Ranked mode. How do the MultiVersus ranks work?

The game has a ranking system with some similarities to other top fighting games. However, if you want to maximize your climb up the tiers, you’ll need to understand how the details of the MultiVersus ranked mode works. This is how the system is set up.

All MultiVersus Ranks

Before you can start you ascend to the top of the MultiVersus ranked mode, you need to know the ranks themselves. These are all of the different titles in the games’ competitive mode:

Bronze
Silver
Gold
Platinum
Diamond
Master
Grand Master

How Do the MultiVersus Ranks Work?

Those are each of the MultiVersus ranks, but the ranking system is a bit more complicated than just getting one assigned. There are a few different features you should know about when playing Ranked:

RP

RP is the key to understanding the MultiVersus ranks now. These are Ranked Points, pretty simply, it works like other game’s Ranked modes. You play games against those close to you in RP. As you win or lose, you gain or lose RP. Your results and performance determine how much RP you gain in a match. It’s a measure of how good you are at fighting games, in a lot of ways.

There’s a different amount of total RP you need to reach each new rank. To get up to Grand Master, you’ll need a crazy amount. These are the brackets

100 RP – Bronze
400 RP – Silver
700 RP – Gold
1700 R – Diamond
2200 RP – Master
Grand Master – Top 100 Players

RP requirements to level up increase as you go. The Grand Master section is also more of a divider. The exact RP you need will vary depending on how many of the people playing MultiVersus have what score. It could get pretty high if the top 101 players level their RP way past the master tier minimum.

MultiVersus Ranks Tiers

Each MultiVersus Rank is a broad section, but it’s divided into different tiers. This helps players make progress all the time, rather than feeling like they’re stuck at a single score for too long.

Each of the tiers has different tiers you need to play through. Outside of Grand Master, which just uses rankings.

Rules in Ranked

Ranked mode has a competitive rule set. Similar to what you’ll see across tournaments, it’s a way of playing that tones down any randomness. No stage hazards of course. However, you also can’t play mirror matches Teams with the same two characters can’t face each other for some reason.

Outside of hazards off and no mirrors, that’s all the changes. The rest is played like the game normally is. No mirror matches might mean you need to learn more than one of the best MultiVersus characters. Although, it’s a big player base so you should be able to play your pick most of the time.

How to Go Up the MultiVersus Ranks

The MultiVersus Ranks are effectively a measure of your skill in the game. How can you get up higher in the ranks? The basic idea is to win matches. Although, that’s a bit obvious. How can you increase your chances?

Learn the Game Before Jumping into Ranked – Ranked isn’t for practice. Learn the game in full and try to master it before you get started.
Choose a Main – A big part of playing well is using the right character. Learn and main and their entire kit, then their match-ups and counters. This will give you a better chance.
Learn Combos – Combos are the key to higher-level play. Try to get these down for your characters.
Follow the Meta – MultiVersus updates happen often. Keep an eye on patch notes for how these major changes will affect you.

Getting higher in MultiVersus Ranks really just comes down to performing your best consistently. You might not have a constant rise up the ranks. But if you’re applying yourself, working on your faults, and constantly improving, you should gradually work your way up.
