The Four Banes, or status effects, are different types of elemental damage that enemies can inflict in Black Myth: Wukong. Being prepared and knowing how to solve each one when encountering them is essential to your survival, so read on to find the crucial details about all the status effects in Black Myth: Wukong.

All Status Effects in Black Myth: Wukong

In Black Myth: Wukong, there are four different status effects: Burn, Chill, Poison, and Shock. Each has its own effects, so we’re going to tell you everything you need to know about all of them.

Burn

The Burn status effect in Black Myth: Wukong is one you’re almost guaranteed to encounter early. Various ranged enemies will shoot fire arrows at you, so it’s likely you’ll suffer from this in Chapter 1.

When Burn is active, you’ll take a lot of damage extremely quickly, so you want to get rid of it as fast as possible. To do this, you need to roll around on the floor multiple times. Stop, drop, and roll.

Chill

You won’t see the Chill status effect until later in Black Myth: Wukong’s story. That’s not to say it isn’t dangerous, though.

Chill works similarly to other status effects, in that it will inflict a constant stream of damage on you until it’s cured. To solve this, you need to use some Body-Warming Poweder.

Poison

Like Burn, you’re going to suffer from the Poison status effect pretty early on in your adventure. You can tell you’re poisoned by a thick green mist that engulfs your character while it’s active.

Your HP will slowly begin to drain when Poison is active, and it’s subtle enough that you might not even notice it. To cure Poison in Black Myth: Wukong, either visit a Keeper’s Shrine or use some Antimiasma Powder.

Shock

Bosses such as Captain Wise-Voice will use the Shock status effect to increase all other damage that you take. While it’s not deadly by itself, in combination with other powerful attacks, it can lead you to your demise. If you’ve got the Shock status effect active, you’ll need to use some Shock-Quelling Powder to remove it instantly.

For all of the above Black Myth: Wukong status effects, you can take the Bane Mitigation talent. Each Spark put into this reduces the duration of the status effects, making it one of the more useful talents in the game.
