The official Assassins Creed Shadows release date is on March 20, the latest official game to be released in the Assassins Creed franchise, a franchise that has going on for just under two decades. This is the first time a main Assassins Creed game has been released since the introduction of Assassins Creed Mirage back in 2023. Since the downward trend of the franchise began, Ubisoft has stopped their yearly production of Assassins Creed titles, ensuring the quality of their games remains at the highest level possible rather than rushing games. Ubisoft’s CEO even announced multiple Assassin’s Creed remakes in the future.

Because this game will be on the larger side, as far as download size goes, AC players will be able to preload the game two or three days early, while Ubisoft Connect players will be able to play the game one day early on March 19.

Available platforms for Assassin’s Creed: Shadows

Assassins Creed Shadows can be played on a variety of platforms. From gaming consoles to PC, there are several ways players will be able to enjoy the latest installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Let’s take a look at the platforms you can play Assassins Creed Shadows on:

  • Windows
  • Xbox Series X
  • Xbox Series S
  • PlayStation 5
  • Luna
  • MacOS

Unfortunately, developers are starting to wind down on how many of the Assassin’s Creed games are released onto the older generation of consoles, such as the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. These games are becoming ever more difficult to produce on older hardware, leaving the developers with no choice, but to only release their games on the current platforms. At the time of writing this article, there are no plans for AC Shadows to be released on the Nintendo Switch.

Additionally, with the Assassins Creed Shadows initial release, multiplayer and co-op will not be an option. However, Ubisoft confirmed that the co-op option will be added in the near future.

What should you expect?

Will the release be another fumble like Assassin’s Creed Unity? Maybe Ubisoft went hard, and they bless us with another awesomeness like Assassin’s Creed II/Origins. With samurai involved, we sure hope so!
