Clash Royale May 2025 Balance changes have dropped on May 5. Most cards were already sitting pretty at 5-15 % usage in Ultimate Champion, so it’s more tweak than overhaul this month. Yet players will notice some pretty big changes, especially to the freshly revealed Evolution cards.

Clash Royale May 2025 Balance Changes

Witch Evolution Adjustments

The much-anticipated Witch Evolution arrives with its original stats for a brief window-then immediately sees two nerfs aimed at reining in her sustain:

  • Heal per Skeleton: 109 → 73 (-33 %)
  • Max Hitpoints: 1 090 → 1 048 (-4 %)

These changes should curb the Witch’s ability to outlast heavy pushes without completely undermining her new healing mechanic. You can learn more about her alongside all the events lined up this month in our Clash Royale May 2025 Event Calendar article.

Nerfs

Guards

  • Damage: 122 → 117 (-4%) A modest reduction to temper their shielding effect and solidify their role as inexpensive defensive troops rather than mini-tanks.

Cannon Evolution

  • Barrage Radius: 2.5 → 2 tiles (-20%) Tightening the splash zone makes it less forgiving against tightly clustered swarms, encouraging more precise placement.

Buffs

P.E.K.K.A Evolution (healing on death increased)

  • Small Troops (HP < 990): 142 → 160 (+13 %)
  • Medium Troops (991-1 989): 282 → 304 (+8 %)
  • Large Troops (> 1 990): 565 → 577 (+2%) Boosting her post-mortem healing ensures the Evolution P.E.K.K.A remains a high-impact threat, especially in decks that capitalize on her death damage.

Royal Chef

  • Hitpoints: 2,703 → 2,921 (+8%) A health bump to help this support troop survive long enough to dish out its healing aura, reinforcing its role in control decks.

Reworks

Cannon Cart

  • Hitpoints: 1,648 → 1,730 (+5 %)
  • New Mechanic: Shield HP now merged into total Hitpoints. At 50 % health, Cannon Cart transforms into a stationary building rather than losing its shield bar. This change streamlines its health visuals and adds a strategic twist: deciding when to let it fall back and fortify versus pushing forward.

Golden Knight

  • Dashing Dash: Now also dashes backwards! A quality-of-life tweak that improves the Golden Knight’s chase and retreat dynamics, making him more versatile in tight situations.

Goblin Hut

  • Nearby Defense: Spawns Spear Goblins when enemy troops approach. This gives the Hut a reactive edge, punishing predictable siege pushes and rewarding careful placement.
