It’s all eyes on China, as the Clavision Snow Ruyi Invitational kicks off very soon. China hasn’t gotten too many tournaments this season, so the Clavision Snow Ruyi Invitational is a good spotlight for the Chinese representatives of the Dota 2 competative scene.
Specifically, five Chinese teams are competing at the event, including Xtreme Gaming, LGD Gaming, G2 x iG, Azure Ray, and Team Zero. The international representatives feature Team Spirit, Talon Esports, Nigma Galaxy, Natus Vincere, and Virtus.pro, so there’s no shortage of top competition. Here’s how these teams scale up in our official power rankings.
Clavision Snow Ruyi Invitational Power Rankings
While fans are disappointed out that other big players, such as the Riyadh Masters 2024 Champions Gaimin Gladiators and runners-up Team Liquid will not participate, it’s still a promising stack of teams competing at the Clavision Snow Ruyi Invitational. Here’s our top-five teams to look out for:
5. G2 x iG
Starting off with G2 x iG as a decent contender to place in the upper echelon of the rankings.
On paper, this Chinese powerhouse is made up of a roster of prodigies. Many of its players, such as Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang and Yap “xNova” Jian Wei, have played in the grand finals of the International Championships. Yet, G2 x iG’s debut this season has been underwhelming for what these players’ potential could have been.
While not able to place top seeds in any major tournaments, they are still consistent participants throughout this season. They placed fourth at PGL Wallachia S1 , fifth at ESL One Birmingham 2024, and seventh at Elite League S1, to name a few.
4. Virtus.pro
Going up the Clavision Snow Ruyi Invitational rankings, we have Virtus.pro with the potential of placing fourth. Note that in terms of consolation prizes for participating in more tournaments, VP has lesser than G2 x iG.
Yet, their recent performance at Riyadh Masters 2024 proved that they are no pushovers when going up against the top teams. They managed to hold their own against formidable opponents, such as Entity, LGD Gaming and G2 x iG.
3. Team Zero
Team Zero deserves to be in third place on the power rankings because they’re just one step behind the rest. In fact, really, we’re picking between Team Zero and Virtus.pro to be third in the power rankings, just because of the overwhelming power gap Xtreme Gaming and Team Spirit have over the other teams.
Nevertheless, Team Zero is quite the wild card going into Clavision Snow Ruyi Invitational. There have been no notable records of their participation in major tournaments recently, yet they won the International 2024 China Regional Qualifier to compete at TI13. In their journey, they defeated every other Chinese competitor, including G2 x iG, Azure Ray, and LGD Gaming.
2. Xtreme Gaming
The grand finals of Clavision Snow Ruyi Invitational will likely be a battle between giants. Xtreme Gaming is China’s best Dota 2 team for the season, often going up against champions, such as Team Falcons, Gaimin Gladiators, and Team Spirit.
In some of these encounters, they even came out on top, such as their victory at Elite League S1. There’s no doubt that Xtreme Gaming will have a smooth journey to reach the grand finals to face their rivals, Illya “Raddan” Mulyarchuk and Team Spirit.
1. Team Spirit
The two-time TI Champion needs no introduction, they are indisputably strong, period. Even when fans enjoy the narrative of Xtreme Gaming’s Wang “Ame” Chunyu‘s rivalry with Raddan , Team Spirit have still won on more occasions.
At a tournament without Gaimin Gladiators and Team Falcons, rest assured that no team could give Team Spirit a run for their money. Thus, the Clavision Snow Ruyi Invitational will likely be Team Spirit’s victory. We can only hope that Xtreme Gaming can deliver an exciting grand finals with them!
Falling just short of our power rankings top five are are Azure Ray, LGD Gaming, Natus Vincere, Talon Esports, and Nigma Galaxy. There are expectations for these teams to perform, either because of stand-ins or other considerations, but it would be a pleasant surprise if they overthrow one of the teams we list on our power rankings!
