This weekend we’re seeing the final of the FNCS Major 2, the biggest tournament in Chapter 6 Season 2. While he’s not sat on top of the results at the end of the day, one player has achieved something big; Clix’s stream of playing the tournament managed to get higher viewer numbers than the official stream. Making his point of view the most popular way to follow the tournament.

Clix’s trio has had a big rise this Chapter, with a close result in Season 1 and a strong performance so far this season. They might even crack the rankings for best Fortnite players after this event is over. However, pulling in such an audience to watch him might make Clix the biggest winner of FNCS Major 2.

Player Stream of FNCS Finals Beats Official Broadcast

Clix’s most recent stream of the tournament has amassed a grand total of 729 thousand viewers! A huge number for a Twitch stream. But when compared to the official broadcasts from Epic we get a clearer view of things.

In total, the official stream of that same tournament reached 480 thousand viewers on Twitch. Still impressive, especially when you consider all the ways you can watch. However, the official stream had the advantage of drops. Not to mention commentators and switching around between views of players, making it a lot more action packed. It’s definitely the easiest way to watch the broadcast, so why has Clix’s point of view proven so much more popular?

At one point, Fortnite pros streaming their gameplay was very common. But over the years as the game got more serious, players more and more stayed private for major events. We mainly got the official streams. Clix has always been a mixture of pro and streamer, with a emphasis more on one than the other at certain times. Now he’s back at the top of the competitive landscape though, he has something unique to offer.

Clix Pops Off

The offical FNCS stream might have mixed up which player it followed, but Clix’s stream was almost a highlight reel by itself for a good number of finals games. With Clix’s squad rising to first place and coming high in numerous games during the first day, his stream almost matched the official one for quite a while. Especially with his Victory Royale match, where it was Clix who delivered the final blow.

The stream might have been at a slight delay compared to the official one, but it had the added benefit of watching a pro through the ups and downs. Rising to first place, and then getting chased into a 0 point final game. You get a better sense of those highs and lows watching a single player than jumping around.

It doesn’t look like the whole of Fortnite esports will be embracing streaming their view of things any time soon. However, the Clix stream beating out the official one might mean he ends up the biggest winner from this tournament. If he keeps up consistency his spot in the LAN seems likely this time, and the boost to his profile as a streamer is hard to deny.
