With the second round robin of the LCK summer underway, let’s break down one of the most important matches of the split: DK vs HLE. Who is taking the win? Here are our thoughts in the weekly preview.
DK vs HLE – it’s rematch time
Both DK and HLE come following a win in week 6 of the LCK Summer. The former took down DRX while HLE swept KDF, showing that the two teams are on form.
This match, however, has a special meaning since it can potentially impact the seedings going into playoffs. HLE have currently one extra win over DK: an HLE loss would tie the two teams back again in the standings. A win, instead, would open the gap even more, as the latter would basically lock in second place, putting them into a great position to qualify for Worlds 2024.
After their last match, has anything changed about the two teams or are the values more or less the same? Let’s see our series breakdown.
Match breakdown
DK has been playing with a steadier playstyle compared to the start of the split, and they were even able to end Gen.G’s win-streak when the two faced off last week. The potential is there and I feel like the team is quite close to their peak level: ShowMaker and the rest of the squad has stepped up.
Having said that, I also think that HLE’s peak potential might be even higher than DK’s. Viper has been shining in this particular meta, as he even broke the Korean solo queue record. He is known for picks like Ezreal, Kai’Sa, and even mages like Ziggs. With him and Zeka particularly on point, the matchup will be close.
Based on the teams’ performances, a lot will always come down to the junglers. Both teams require their players to be on absolute form to deliver so the pressure will be on Lucid and Peanut. Whoever gets the advantage over the other player, will likely lead his team to a victory.
