Groups A and B of the BLAST Fall Groups 2024 have their first Upper Bracket finalists in the form of Spirit and Vitality. Spirit will count themselves fortunate they came up against a Heroic team still playing with coach sAw standing in for degster, who continues to have visa issues across this event. Vitality had a tougher task, having to face Astralis in their second match of the tournament. Still, they got it done 2:0, making short work of the Danes despite a late scare.

For Spirit, it was donk who was played the starring role. Shocking, we know. After a worrying EWC 2024, donk was back in Copenhagen at his very best, managing to get a couple of highlight clips in the bank here in a solid 37:25 series. Over on the Vitality side of things, we saw both flameZ and apEX shine to brush Astralis aside. It was an impressive day for both teams, and you’d expect both to make it to the Fall Final with their next matches.

Complexity and Falcons hang on

Complexity and Falcons are two rosters that desperately need something to go their way right now. After losing on the first day, it was looking grim for both teams. However, both bounced back in style, with Complexity taking down OG and Falcons securing the W against GamerLegion. While Complexity needed all three maps to win their match, Falcons were able to sweep GL in 2:0 fashion.

As usual, Complexity looked to EliGE to drag them out of the mud. He’s used to this role by now, and his efforts have bought them at least one more match in Copenhagen. Falcons saw great performance all around, although particular praise should be levied at Maden and SunPayus for their performances here. These are two of the most criticized players in the scene at the moment, but they showed up to keep Falcons alive at the BLAST Fall Groups 2024.

Now, we get two rematches for these teams. Complexity vs. Heroic and Falcons vs. Astralis is the order, and both will need to be at their best if they’re to avenge their opening-day losses to these teams.

GamerLegion and OG sent packing early

Just as we predicted in our BLAST Fall Groups 2024 power rankings, GamerLegion and OG became the first teams sent home from the tournament today. For GamerLegion, this was just a couple of tournaments too early. This is such a young roster, and they need more time to cook, but the raw potential is enormous. OG were dealt a tough hand, having Thomas come in as a stand-in IGL, meaning they were never likely to do any better than this.

That said, both of these teams can take some positives from the BLAST Fall Groups 2024. GamerLegion pushed Vitality to the brink on day one, and were unfortunate to lose. For OG, Thomas was a solid IGL, so it’ll be interesting to see if they bring him on long-term. Although GL and OG are eliminated from the Fall Groups, both head to the BLAST Fall Showdown next month. There, they’ll have one last chance at qualifying for the Fall Final 2024 in September.
