It’s barely a week since the update 7.37 released but Valve has already released a patch for Dota 2.
In their defense, it’s a much needed update to patch to the many overpowered heroes, items and bugs that shipped earlier. Here’s a breakdown of some of the biggest changes:
Lone Druid crash bug: FIXED
One of the most crucial fix that came in patch 7.37b is for the Lone Druid crash bug. When Valve first identified the game-crashing bug, they disabled Lone Druid from all game modes.
The bug was so critical that it can be abused to prevent loss of MMR when the abuser performs a simple buy-and-sell step to cause the crash. Enchantress’ Little Friends and Tormentor also causes a similar crash, which is now resolved.
Other bug fixes
Other fixes that are also included in patch 7.37b are the Phantom Lancer’s innate ability, Illusory Armaments formerly having lower bonus damage than what it’s supposed to.
And other minor fixes such as faulty skill interactions, damage miscalculations and other effects that weren’t working as expected. Here’s a full list of the fixes:
Fixed Iron Talon being affected by spell amp and damage resistance
Fixed Khanda working on illusions (now has the same behavior as Phylactery)
Fixed true sight not working correctly with Bristleback’s Seeing Red
Fixed Crystal Maiden’s Arcane Aura not having a range indicator for the 1200 proximity bonus

Fixed Drow Ranger’s Sidestep being cancellable by issuing an attack order
Fixed Earthshaker’s Slugger applying the push to enemies that are alive in some rare circumstances
Fixed a crash related to Enchantress’ Little Friends and Tormentor
Fixed Juggernaut’s Level 10 Talent not applying Duelist Damage until Juggernaut dies
Fixed a crash with Lone Druid when passing Neutral Items to the Spirit Bear
Fixed Lone Druid’s Gift Bearer rerolls not working correctly
Fixed Mars’ Spear of Mars sometimes failing to impale one of the targets if multiple are speared with Aghanim’s Shard
Fixed Medusa’s Gorgon’s Grasp damage being reduced by physical damage block
Fixed Medusa’s Gorgon’s Grasp turn restriction piercing debuff immunity
Fixed Morphling’s Morph proccing Phylactery/Khanda on the actual hero when it is cast on an illusion

Fixed Nyx Assassin’s Mind Flare sometimes applying to multiple enemies if they are too close together, even without Level 25 Talent
Fixed Pugna getting a spooky stacking buff that didn’t do anything when killing an enemy with Life Drain
Fixed Sniper’s Take Aim self-buffs being dispellable by ally dispels
Fixed Visage not gaining the damage bonus or armor reduction from Level 10/20 Talents along with the Familiars
Fixed Visage’s Gravekeeper’s Cloak sometimes not gaining new stacks when Visage was no longer affected by Break
Fixed Weaver leveling Geminate Attack after damaging enemies with a Shard upgraded Shukuchi proccing multiple attacks
Fixed Windranger’s Easy Breezy movement speed not working correctly when using Force Boots
Tinker and Ember Spirit nerfs
Alongside bug fixes were hero nerfs, notably Tinker and Ember Spirit were the most severely hit in patch 7.37b.
Tinker’s Repair Bots facet on March of the Machines received a minor nerf on its heal per second. While this is a nerf, it’s certainly not enough to limit Tinker’s capabilities as a top hero pick in update 7.37.
Ember Spirit’s Immolation Innate Ability got its damage debuff’s linger duration removed, which makes Ember deal less damage alongside further damage decrease.
Dota 2 Item nerfs
While there are many more heroes that received minor nerfs across the patch 7.37b, the item nerfs are worth checking out.
For instance, Gleipnir’s active ability to root enemies has its radius reduced. Whereas a series of intelligence-based items that required Kaya as a component, no longer get mana regen and spell lifesteal amplifications stack with Kaya-based items. This includes Yasha and Kaya, Kaya and Sange, and Meteor Hammer, which are often picked up by high-magic damage heroes, such as Storm Spirit, Queen of Pain and Leshrac.
Considering these major nerfs to items and a decent balancing patch on heroes, players can expect a fairer hero match-up in their games and at the upcoming International 2024 (TI13).
