The Esports World Cup 2024 CS2 Semi-Finals are here, with just four teams remaining fighting for their tournament lives on the server. MOUZ, NAVI, G2, and Virtus.pro make up the star-studded line-up of teams, deciding who get the lion’s share of the huge cash prize, as well as the bragging rights in Riyadh.
In our Quarter-Finals EWC 2024 preview, we did predict an upset – we just called the wrong one. Will we be able to be a little more successful this time around? Let’s dive into the matchups in the Semi-Finals of the EWC 2024.
MOUZ vs. NAVI
MOUZ will consider themselves very lucky to be in the Semi-Finals of the Esports World Cup 2024. Not because they’re not a great team, but because their performances so far haven’t lived up to their own lofty expectations in a rusty start to the new season. Yet, despite this, they’re in the Semi-Finals, which is a credit to their quality.
However, facing this NAVI is simply a different beast at the moment. After taking down FaZe Clan in a comfortable 2:0 series, they come into this Semi-Final brimming with confidence. We think MOUZ’s struggles will finally catch up to them here, giving NAVI a straight run to the Grand Final.
Our prediction: NAVI 2:0 MOUZ
G2 vs. Virtus.pro
G2 vs. Virtus.pro sees IGL Snax return to face the team with which he built his name in the competitive CS scene. This time around, he’ll be hoping to take G2 to a Grand Final in his first tournament on the team. Standing in the way is Virtus.pro, who have looked extremely tough to beat throughout the Esports World Cup 2024 so far.
We’ve got a feeling about G2 this event. There’s an aura about the team, much in the way that GStew at IEM Dallas 2024 had. NiKo and m0NESY keep being undermined in predictions due to the players around them, but not here. We think G2 will do what Complexity and Vitality have failed to do at the EWC 2024, and beat Virtus.pro. Once again, it’ll be close though.
Our prediction: G2 2:1 Virtus.pro
