Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been out for just under a week, and already players are wrapping up the game and looking for more – and luckily, the games’ creative director has an answer for them.
While Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has received numerous accolades, and even sold out of physical editions in some locations, the game’s creative director, Guillaume Broche, says that the next great turn-based RPG is already released: The Hundred Line.

Expedition 33 Creative Director Tells Fans to out The Hundred Line
With Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 releasing Thursday last week, dedicated gamers are already beating the game’s main story. Despite having a story that’s anywhere between 30-50 hours long, and hundreds of hours of content beyond, some players have already discovered the mysteries behind The Paintress and the Expeditions.
Still Expedition 33 creative director, Guillaume Broche, posted a Tweet stating that he had an idea for players who’ve already cleared finished their expedition:
“After your Expedition, check out The Hundred Line, another great turn-based RPG that was also released last week, and made with love by an awesome team.”
That post itself was a response to Dangonronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka, whose new RPG, The Hundred Line, released on the exact same day as Expedition 33, April 24.
Kazutaka Kodaka: “To everyone who’s finished their expedition — your admission to the Last Defense Academy awaits!”
While The Hundred Line is very different visually to Expedition 33, it’s still rooted in the same turn-based RPG pedigree as its francophone cousin. Moreover, it’s also received huge amounts of praise, with a Very Positive rating on Steam.
However, this is a very different animal to Clair Obscur – With its Danganronpa-style visuals, school/academy setting, and overall JRPG eccentricity, we’re not sure The Hundred Line will attract the same audience. What’s more, unlike Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, The Hundred Line isn’t on Game Pass , or even on consoles at the moment.
This author, for one, was relieved that Expedition 33 was finally a turn-based RPG that didn’t want me to play as a highschooler and romance teenagers. Still, if you’ve still got that itch for more RPG goodness after Clair Obscur, you could do far worse than picking up another one of 2025’s best-reviewed titles.
