Beastmaster is a brand new Limited Job coming to Final Fantasy XIV during the FFXIV: Dawntrail expansion. But despite knowing it’s due to be released, there’s not huge amounts of information as to what the job may include.

Below, we’ve compiled all the information about the Beastmaster that’s been released so far, and will update this article as we get more. Here’s everything we currently know about the Beastmaster in FFXIV:

The Beastmaster will be the first Limited Job added to FFXIV since the Blue Mage. Limited Jobs are a special kind of job/class that isn’t allowed to be played in current party-finder content, but instead is designed as more of a side quest. With the Blue Mage, there’s special instances just for Blue Mages, and content designed solely for them. The Beastmaster should be similar.

Beastmaster FFXIV Release Date?

There’s no set release date for the Beastmaster. Instead, it’s scheduled, currently for the “Latter part of 7.X.” The Blue Mage released in the 4.5 patch of Stormblood, meaning we might be waiting all the way until 2025 or beyond for the Beastmaster to be released.

How will Beastmaster work?

If Blue Mage is anything to go by, the Beastmaster will likely require you to defeat and tame monsters, in the same way that Blue Mages have to defeat mobs to gain their skills.

One source of information we have for the Beastmaster is Final Fantasy XI, FFXIV’s older MMO cousin in the franchise. That game had its own Beastmaster job. In that game, the player had a single pet, which could be changed depending on the level of the character. Calling a beast/pet would summon a creature of the equivalent level of the Beastmaster who could then fight for you.

On top of this, the Beastmaster in FFXI had attacks specially designed to do more damage, control, and debuff mobs. In FFXIV, this would make them fantastic at things like FATES or trash pulls in dungeons.

Vana’diel connection?

As mentioned, the Beastmaster job appeared in FFXI. Perhaps not so coincidentally, FFXIV: Dawntrail’s Alliance Raid series will be based on FFXI and the world of Vana’diel. This means the Beastmaster might be connected to that questline and world.

Beastmaster Gear?

Most jobs in FFXIV share a lot of gear with other classes and roles. For instance, apart from job specific items, all tanks can equip tanking gear, healers can wear healer gear, etc. The Blue Mage shares gear with the ranged magical classes, Summoner and Black Mage. It’s likely the Beastmaster will also share gear with one role. Since the Beastmaster of FFXI equips a lot of animal horns, and other similar gear, it’s speculated they might share gear with the Warrior, and use Tank Gear. They’re also likely to be a melee class, meaning they might share gear with one of the Melee DPS jobs.
