We’re four days into the fun at BLAST Open Spring 2025 so far, and we officially have our first four Playoff teams decided. We’ve also seen some teams head home at this early stage – read on to find out if it’s the usual suspects, or if there are any surprise packages at this CS2 event.

MOUZ and Vitality top Group A

Over at the top of Group A at BLAST Open Spring 2025, things went largely as most would have predicted. Vitality, sitting pretty as the unchallenged best CS2 team in the world right now, made quick work of Astralis and Virtus.pro to secure their Playoff slot. They were joined by MOUZ, who had to beat Falcons and Spirit to reach the same stage. For MOUZ, their handling of Spirit is officially a pattern, one that the Russian team needs to figure out.

Heading home already from Group A are The Huns and Astralis. For The Huns, they were only invited due to circumstances out of their control, so this was just a good learning experience for them. But for Astralis, this was yet another miserable result that could see them choose to make a CS2 roster change before the Major. Things are that dire for the Danes.

Eternal Fire and NAVI battle through Group B

Group B of BLAST Open Spring 2025 was eventful, with Eternal Fire going flawless against Liquid and G2 to secure their fifth Playoff berth of the year – the sign of an elite team if I ever saw one. Meeting EF in the Playoffs from Group B is NAVI, who after beating FURIA, had to run a full gauntlet series against The MongolZ to progress to the next stage. Things have been on a downturn for NAVI of late, so this was a pretty good result.

Group B has already seen Imperial and FURIA sent home – a terrible state of affairs for Brazilian Counter-Strike. To make matters worse, they were well beaten by Liquid and M80. It was a win for NA in the battle of the Americas down there.

Who can still qualify for the BLAST Open Spring Playoffs?

With four Playoff teams decided at BLAST Open Spring 2025, there are still two slots remaining. Those slots will go to the winners of Group A and B’s lower brackets, which is a truly punishing format.

Let’s start with a look at Group A. The lower bracket there is absolutely stacked, to say the least. On one side, you have Virtus.pro vs. Falcons, and on the other, it’s Spirit vs. FaZe. The winner of those matches will then face off for the final Group A Playoffs spot. I’m guessing Spirit, but in this format, anything can happen.

Over in Group B, there’s a little more of a clear favorite in my eyes. The MongolZ vs. Liquid makes up one side of the lower bracket, matched by G2 vs. M80 on the other. If we don’t see The MongolZ go to the Playoffs of BLAST Open Spring 2025, I’ll be very shocked, given how poor the other three teams have looked at this event.
