The FNCS Major 1 2025 is the biggest tournament of Chapter 6 Season 1. As a qualifier for the Global Championship, there’s been a lot to get excited about. We’ve seen some impressive use of the new weapons in Chapter 6 and it’s going to be fun to see it played in an FNCS context. While the format has been extended this year, we’re nearly reaching the Major itself with the Play-In for the FNCS Major 1 2025 tournament beginning this weekend.
This year, the FNCS has become a larger event, now covering regular Divisional Cups that give players a different route to secure their slot. However, before we get to the actual finals with its lobbies of the top players, there’s a Play In. It’s this round that decides which of the players will make it all the way through. How will it work and what do you need to know about the events taking place this weekend?

FNCS Major 1 2025 Play In
The next stage of the NCS Major 1 2025 tournament is the Play In, the stage before our Grand Finals. It’s where we separate things out and cut out the participants. Up until this point, players in all cups had the chance of rising upwards. However, this stage cuts that off. Leaving the top players in each region to compete to go to the group stage.
Players have to make the top 99 slots in Europe along with the America Central region. However, all other servers only get 66 through from the Play In. It’s taking place over just two days, 29-30th of January. However, the first of the group stages continues shortly after, on February 2nd. It’ll be this Play In that cuts of the divisions though, and limits things to the best Fortnite players for our final rosters.
When Are the Finals?
If you haven’t made the cut in the FNCS, the next big event will be the Grand Finals. A weekend of matches where we see the Champions decided for the season. This is going to take place over February 15-18th. With the best players moving on from these finals to the Global Championship. Last year, we saw Duos begin to dominate very early in the year, starting with winning one FNCS Major, followed by another, and going on to take the Global Championship. We could similarly see the winning team begin to set themselves apart from the rest at this first event too.
