Fortnite x Cars was leaked long ago. Epic Games and Pixar already worked together to bring The Incredibles into the metaverse, and they have plans for much more than that. That included the Cars series. However, the most recent update is disappointing and causes everyone who was excited about it to pump the brakes.
Fortnite x Cars Delayed
The long-awaited Fortnite x Cars crossover is delayed. It was initially expected to arrive in the next update, which comes on Tuesday. However, the early patch notes came out for it, and the Pixar collaboration was not there. The newest update is that it’s officially not happening next week.
There’s still no timeline for when this will happen. It hasn’t even technically been confirmed, though it’s quite likely. It could still end up like the FNAF collaboration with numerous leaks and rumors but nothing to show for it all these years later.
Epic Games has been on a holiday break since the middle of December, and they’ve just now returned. It’s no surprise that nothing, including the Cars crossovers, was added to the game over the past few weeks. If the collab wasn’t ready before they went on break, then it’s not ready for the following update. The development team will have to work to implement the crossover and then release it.
It is expected that this crossover will mainly be for Rocket Racing. Cars won’t work as skins, so there will presumably be car decals and not much else. They might be able to include back blings with logos or harvesting tools in the style of some of the characters, but even that is a bit of a stretch. This is a leak, so keep in mind that the crossover may not happen. It may also be a surprise addition in the update even if it is “not expected.”
