The CS2 Snap Tap controversy continues – ESL Pro League Season 20 has seen the first example of a team punished for using the feature. After ESL banned Snap Tap for its future events, Heroic used it in their EPL opener against NIP and was punished with the overturning of a map win.
Heroic lose map due to Snap Tap usage
After the first map of Heroic vs. NIP at ESL Pro League Season 20, a confusing delay led to some speculation about what was happening. It has since been confirmed by ESL that a Heroic player was using Snap Tap, the banned technology that essentially makes counter-strafing perfect. At the moment, it isn’t clear which Heroic player was using Snap Tap, which is only available on certain Razer Huntsman V3 models.
This is the first major incident in which Snap Tap has been involved, resulting in a Heroic 13:10 map win being overturned in favor of NIP. Hopefully, it’s the last, and after this, you can guarantee players will be triple-checking their setups to ensure the technology is disabled going forward. We may even see players moving away from these Razer keyboards entirely, which is the best way to make sure that this doesn’t happen by accident.
