Tango Gameworks, the once-shuttered game developer behind 2023’s cult hit Hi-Fi Rush, has launched a new website and announced it is hiring for an upcoming, unnamed title.

The company was among several studios closed by Microsoft in 2024 as part of a broader restructuring initiative. That move shuttered four major studios and saw all Tango Gameworks employees laid off. Now, the studio is back under its original banner and looking ahead to new projects.

Hi-Fi Rush Developer Reveals New Website and Game Project, Begins Hiring

Tango Gameworks developed the rhythm-based sci-fi adventure game Hi-Fi Rush, which charmed fans and critics alike in 2023. The game earned multiple Game Awards nominations and wins, as well as a nod at the 2024 BAFTA Games Awards. Despite the acclaim, Microsoft closed the studio in May 2024, citing a reinvestment in “new IP.” Apparently, an award-winning new title didn’t meet that definition.

Now, the studio has returned, launching a new website and opening roles for new team members. John Johanas, creative director at Tango Gameworks, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter):

“Here we go!

Been silent for a while as we are getting everything together (reopening a studio is a lot more work than you think), but we’re back up and walking again!

Looking for members to join our team, so check out our new studio culture and open jobs!”

According to the studio, the website “details our creative vision and features a new logo that symbolizes our updated brand image.” The new logo has a cleaner, more serious design, reminding us of the classic Atari emblem — a subtle but effective step in rebranding.

The website also debuts a new motto: “A creative workshop making games with soul” — a fitting manifesto for the revitalized studio.

While details about the new game remain limited, the studio has confirmed it will be an action title. Tango is currently hiring Tokyo-based programmers, VFX artists and character artists — all promising signs for the studio’s future.
