Guangzhi is one of the earliest bosses you can meet in Black Myth: Wukong, although he’s optional to face. He provides an extremely tough early-game challenge, although it’s well worth taking him on, thanks to the fact he drops a mighty weapon that gives access to an overpowered spell.
If you’re struggling with Guangzhi, we’ve got a few tips that will hopefully help you to take him down.
Where to find Guangzhi in Black Myth: Wukong
When you’re at the Outside the Forest Shrine in the Forest of Wolves, head down the left path when progressing further. You’ll encounter a Bandit Chief guarding a chest, and a Wolf Archer. This means you’re on the right track. Follow on, and you’ll find Guangzhi, who begins a cutscene when you meet him.
Best ways to beat Guangzhi in Black Myth: Wukong
We won’t lie – this boss fight is going to give you a hard time. First off, do the simple things. Use your Sparks and rest at a Keeper’s Shrine for maximum HP. Guangzhi is heavily fire-based, so having plenty of Body-Cooling Powders to hand will allow you to ward off that annoying Black Myth: Wukong status effect.
Throughout the fight, Guangzhi will use several combo attacks. These are very telegraphed, and you’ll know when they’re finished. You should only attack at the end of these combos, as it’s the only way to avoid taking tons of damage against Guangzhi. Then, you can top this off with an Immobilize spell, followed by another slew of quick attacks. This way, every period of fighting results in a ton of damage dealt to the boss.
Once Guangzhi reaches half health, his attacks will look a little more complex. This shouldn’t change anything in your strategy. Figure out the moveset, wait for the combos to finish, attack, repeat. You might die a couple of times figuring out these combos, but it shouldn’t take you too many attempts before you’re barely being hit by Guangzhi.
Once you’ve defeated Guangzhi, claim his glaive to get the Red Tides transformation. This will make life much easier when you’re trying to take down other early-game Black Myth: Wukong bosses – a fitting reward for the challenge of Guangzhi.
