If you’re wondering how to download a world in Minecraft, you’re far from the only one. You might have created something special and want to save a copy of it elsewhere or preserve a world so that it remains unchanged. Things can happen to all game files, so it’s important to have a backup if you feel that that world is worth keeping. Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to do just that. Additionally, if you want to download an external world, it’s easy to do that, too!
How to Download a World in Minecraft
Downloading a world in Minecraft is fairly simple. Follow these steps:
Open Minecraft
Click Play or Single Player
Select a World and press the Edit (pencil) button
On the first screen, scroll down
You will see an option to delete or copy the world. Press to copy it and you will have a copy downloaded
To download another person’s world (in Java Edition), follow these steps:
Download from a reputable source (Marketplace, Planet Minecraft, Curse Forge)
Find the file name with the .mcworld tag
Double click it and it will automatically launch in Minecraft!
When to Download a Copy of a Minecraft World
There are any number of reasons to download a Minecraft world copy, but there’s one that stands out. When you want the world to remain unchanged, download a copy. This is especially useful when you’re doing something like a Hunger Games playthrough. Once you set up the map, which takes a lot of time and effort, players can join and do what they do. This means items will be gone, blocks will be destroyed, and more. Unfortunately, that means you can’t play the same Hunger Games (or other combat-based mode) map again, thus necessitating a lot of hard work again and again. This is why you should download the world beforehand. That way, you have a copy. You do have to repeat this process and make copies of copies, though.
