Are you interested in The Alters? You should be. It may get washed away with the impressive slate of 2025 video game releases, but that’d be a shame. It very well could be an underrated contender this year.
But what really caught our eye was the premise. In the Alters, you play different versions of the same person – and that reminded us of recent sci-fi movie Mickey 17 , staring Robert Pattinson. Based on the book Mickey7 by Edward Ashton, we think these two media properties could have similar inspirations.
The game looks incredible, so much so that you’ll want to check it out. If so, here’s everything you need to know about it.

The Alters Release Date
The video game’s official release date is June 13. There does not appear to be any early access, and the releases are not staggered by platform. All gamers who are interested in playing this title can access it at the same time on the same day.
Platforms
The Alters is hitting the three main platforms: On PC via Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. It also appears to have crossplay enabled, but we don’t believe there’s cross saves. That means you should pick a platform and stick to it.
The Alters Trailer
The trailer shows off the graphics and gameplay you’ll enjoy with this sci-fi adventure epic. There are hundreds of copies of the main character to try and survive this outer-space adventure. There are plot twists even in the trailer, and each version of the same character is slightly different. You get a decent glimpse of the story. Also, you also get to see how things look and feel, though there’s not a ton of gameplay.
It reminds us slightly of 2025’s Mickey 17, the sci-fi comedy starting Robert Pattinson. However, this could be a coincidence.

The Alters is a survival game. It was both developed and published by 11 Bit Studios. In it, you control Jan Dolski. He is a space miner who has to create alternate versions of himself so that he can survive on an otherwise inhospitable planet. It is an adventure strategy game. Additionally, the music was composed by Piotr Musial, who did Frostpunk, The Witcher 3, and Diablo IV. The Alters is a single-player game. It’s not part of a franchise.
