Overwatch’s latest season has arrived! Overwatch Season 12 of the free-to-play title is available to download from August 20th. Jumping in, you’ll find quite a few changes here that Blizzard has already announced. The most obvious is the brand-new Hero Juno. However, they’re far from the only addition. Blizzard has added quite a bit of new content to keep fans happy over the next few months.
Until the current Overwatch season ends, fans have quite a bit of time to test everything out. While the new Hero is the main event, there are all these other changes to watch out for in the Overwatch Season 12 patch notes:
Overwatch Season 12 Update
New Hero – Juno
The big addition is of course the new Overwatch character. Juno has been added! They’re a fresh support that was recently trialed with a short test. They’re back in the game for good after this update. Juno is a support character but one with great potential for mobility and other more interesting plays. They’re available alongside the new season. However, dedicated supports might be looking at bigger waits since their role is the focus right now.
Anubis Reaper and Battle Pass
A new season means new skins! There are quite a few new looks across the Pass but the most exciting is probably Anubis Reaper. The Mythic tier skin gives players different options for the character, mainly themed after the God of Death. A fitting choice to cross Reaper over with.
Competitive Changes
The Overwatch ranks and competitive mode is a focus for a lot of players and that’s not going unchanged in Overwatch Season 12. There’s a rank reset happening for competitive. There are a few changes too like Avoid Teammate being altered. More information about changes to Ranked will be coming in a new developer’s take blog.
Hero Changes
As always, Blizzard is adjusting their existing Heroes along with adding a new one. The big change here is to reduce the health on characters with higher mobility. There are also some buffs coming to Lifeweaver, which is still lagging behind a little bit.
Clash
A new smaller game mode is here for Overwatch Season 12. It’s called Clash. This is a capture point map with dynamic spawn points. The map routes are also more streamlined in their design. It’s supposed to be a game mode with a faster pace which should be a fun change from the more meticulous gameplay for normal Overwatch and Competitive.
