KC vs MDK – LEC Summer Playoffs

Karmine Corp has had a rough first year in the LEC. After being at the bottom of the standings for two out of the three splits, as well as some needed roster changes, the team finally made into the Summer playoffs. That said, the team still has a lot of hurdles to face, including MDK, one of the teams that is already qualified for the LEC Season Finals.

Aside from the battle, however, the matchup goes beyond the players: the two famous streamers Ibai and Kameto will want to prove they have the stronger team, as both French and Spanish viewership is expected to spike through the roof for the rivalry. With that in mind, let’s see who has the better chance of making it through.

Series Breakdown

On one hand, Karmine Corp have been trying to master their playstyle around their carry player Upset. Compared to previous splits, the team’s identity seems to be working better, even though it’s still not up to maximum potential. KCorp still struggles to take leads and find advantages in the early game and they often have to wait for the late stages of the game and Upset to regain control of the match.

MDK, instead, is the exact opposite. They continue to rely heavily on Elyoya and his tempo to gain early leads, pushing to close out the games in the quickest way possible. They are also more meta adherent based on the picks played so far, which in turn increases their chances of victory. Overall, MDK is favored going into this series: the only way for KC to have a chance of turning this around is if they are able to slow the game down a lot and wait for Upset to reach his power spikes on his carry picks. If they bleed too much early on, the chances of comeback are basically none.
