One of the biggest fighting games on the horizon right now is 2XKO, Riot’s entry into the genre. It’s had some open access, but play has been limited to those invited. We’ve also not seen how it handles in a competitive atmosphere. That’s going to change this month with the 2XKO Community Exhibition.

Riot is currently in the middle of pre-release testing and promotion for 2XKO. This game is looking to enter the pantheon of top competitive fighting games, the type of title you’d see with a huge event mainstage at EVO. It won’t get there just through early access though. To capture people’s attention competitively it needs to stand up to a higher level of play.

This upcoming test is going to do just that. As a community event, this features a handful of the top fighting game players from different games taking part in exhibition matches. Although this is community-run it’s one of the biggest events we’ve seen for this early game. There’s no title on offer, but it’ll be a chance for fans to see an early glimpse of how it plays in the most skilled hands.

2XKO Community Exhibition

This week, we’ve seen the 2XKO Community Exhibition announced. This will be a single night of community-run matches played on the Alpha Labs early access of 2XKO. Broadcast on Twitch, four skilled players will be taking part.

The showcase is going to feature two first to 10 matches. The first against supernoon and Diaphone. The second, Leffen vs SonicFox. Then, we’ll see a first to five Duos showcase. This is all happening on August 15th.

What’s interesting about these players is that quite a few are known for their triumphs across varied games. While that’s not uncommon in fighters, they’re particularly those who are skilled in playing vastly different titles. SonicFox’s incredible range in the games he competes in is pretty well known. Leffen has recently expanded way beyond Smash Bros however, and won major events like Guilty Gear Strive at EVO too. This will make them perfect for an early showcase of how well 2XKO handles.

This 2XKO community exhibition will give us a chance to see the title being played by some of the names we might eventually see in tournaments. Along with the ongoing early access, we’re beginning to learn a lot more about the title. While it won’t be released this year, events like this will help to keep it one of the most anticipated upcoming fighting games until we get closer to release.
