It took all three maps to separate NAVI and G2 in the EWC 2024 CS2 Grand Final, but we got there in the end. Your victors on the day were Natus Vincere, who have now claimed the biggest two CS2 tournaments of the year so far after their March Major victory.
We’ve got the deep dive on the differences that allowed NAVI to come back from a map down to claim the crown in Riyadh.
The struggles of m0NESY
It isn’t often we see m0NESY look human on the server. However, during the EWC 2024 CS2 Grand Final, we saw a bunch of uncharacteristic mistakes from G2’s young AWPer. He did help tip the balance in map one, but in maps two and three, m0NESY really struggled – an unfamiliar sight in CS2.
Ultimately, it proved to be one of the biggest factors in G2’s loss. But let’s be real – this is m0NESY. We know he’ll be around for many, many years to come, and this match will be just a small blip in a long and successful career. The EWC 2024 would have been a nice prize to have, but it certainly won’t define him as a player.
The brilliance of b1t
We can point to all of this NAVI team as having done a fantastic job keeping G2 at bay throughout the EWC 2024 CS2 Grand Final, but one player stood out above the rest – b1t. We knew that the supporting cast would be a huge factor in deciding who takes home the trophy, and the genius of b1t represents this perfectly.
Map one and two, he was solid. But map three? It was a true barn-burner from b1t, putting up enormous numbers as NAVI romped to victory. Inferno’s Apartments, whether it be on the T or CT-sides, proved to be b1t’s playhouse. When he’s online, NAVI always plays better. It’s a simple formula, and there’s a reason he’s regarded as one of the best CS2 players in the world.
Make no mistake: this win was no fluke from NAVI. We know how inconsistent they can be, but at the peak of their powers, they’re a joy to watch. Alongside the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, NAVI have now won the two biggest events of 2024. What a year they’re having.
