Street Fighter is building up to its international finale right now, but there’s still plenty of action happening in specific regions before the Capcom Cup. In Europe, a major new fighting game event has just been announced, the Set and Reset Cup. However, it isn’t a normal 1-v-1 event. While it’s got a familiar format, this is a new tournament series that’s been announced with a unique format.
The best fighting games have plenty of big events through the year, but Street Fighter has its own community of dedicated tournaments. There’s a new one joining the roster of events before the next season of competitive play even starts. It’s coming from Reversal, launching as the Set and Reset Cup. Although in format, it’s looking like it’s something of a European Cup for Street Fighter 6. This is how the event is going to be played.
Set and Reset Street Fighter Tournament Coming
The new tournament is taking a bit of a direct approach. Rather than the tournament being divided into individual players, it’s taking the form of a competition between nations. Players from different countries will face off, competing in teams of 4. In the end, we’ll find the strongest European team for Street Fighter 6.
The event will see players from 16 countries enter. They’ll compete in 5v5 matches. It begins with a group stage, before the top 2 from each group of 4 moves into the final. It’ll be played out through a 12-day event. It’s all taking place over February. With these key dates:
- February 12-19 – Group Stage
- February 20-21 – Quarter Finals
- February 23-24 – Semi and Grand Finals
Teams
Since the Set and Reset tournament is different a country approach to teams, we’ve had a handful confirmed for the latest fighting game esports events already. There’s still two that are being held back though. While we have most of the countries, two are listed as TBD. Although, with a single contingent to chose from there aren’t too many options. These are the teams that’ll be taking part:
- France
- Spain
- Portugal
- Italy
- England
- Belgium
- Switzerland
- Germany
- Sweden
- Finland
- Denmark
- Netherlands
- Scotland
Organizers haven’t announced the full rosters for these teams yet. Although, we can expect some of the best Street Fighter players in Europe to take part in the event. While the Capcom Cup will conclude things internationally, the Set and Reset Cup should give us a show of the best players in Europe.
