The announcement was made on February 24 through Riot Games’ official blog post. According to the release, UVS Games will become a publishing and distribution partner for Project K, bringing the game to several English-speaking countries this year and with plans to expand it globally in 2026.
“We’re still refining the final game name, card design, and mechanics in response to your feedback and we’re committed to making Project K the best game it can be. UVS Games is the perfect partner to help us do just that,” said Riot in their blog post.
UVS has been a staple in the Trading card game (TCG), bringing decades of experience when it comes to collectible card games. They are best know for UniVersus Collectible Card Game.
Riot Games already gave a first state for Project K
Announced towards the end of 2024, Riot Games was created by a “small” development team within the company and led by game director Dave Guskin and executive producer Chengran Chai. While the card game was supposed to be initially launched in China, the news quickly gained collectors’ attention and the interest has spread over the globe, with players getting first access at the TFT Macao Open at the end of 2024.
While it will inherit champion designs, lores, and arts from the League of Legends universe, the TCG is expected to have its own competitive ecosystem, with both national and global tournaments. On top of that, it was confirmed it won’t be related to Legends of Runeterra, the existing digital collectible card game developed by Riot Games.
Considering the several complains and general discontent by the League community in the past month due to the removal of Hextech Chests and in-game rewards, it looks like TCG collectors are going to be the ones who rejoice in 2025.
