VCT Champions looks at the future with 2026 and 2027 locations

After an initial leak that disclosed the announcement for VCT 2025 and the locations for Tier-1 tournaments, Riot Games also unveiled some important news about the ecosystem for their VALORANT competitive league.

In a presentation led by Anna Donlon, VALORANT Studio Head, and Leo Faria, Global Head of VALORANT Esports, the publisher revealed that VCT Champions 2026 will be held in China while the 2027 edition will be hitting the Americas.

For the Chinese region, this will be the first time it hosts the VCT Champions. Earlier this year, Riot brought the Masters to Shanghai. For the Americas, instead, this will be the second time after the 2023 edition which took place in Los Angeles. It’s worth mentioning though that considering Riot mentioned Americas, the tournament might be held in both NA and South America, considering the popularity of the game title in both continents.

Major changes for the 2025 VALORANT ecosystem

On top of the news, Faria also shed light on the new league structure for next year. There will be a more spread-out schedule for Tier-1 tournaments and a continued use of Championship points. VCT Challengers will be made to support Academy teams from franchise organizations while Ascension will see getting a rework to consolidate the various regions.

A different competitive circuit for console?

VALORANT also pushed out a console version of the FPS earlier this month, with many wondering whether there will be an additional esports circuit. Donlon and Faria have mentioned the possibility of a separate competitive circuit for console players. On top of that, the game developer is also working on a mobile version of the game VALORANT, even though there isn’t a definite release date yet, according to Donlon.

With four teams (EDward Gaming, Leviatán, Team Heretics, and Sentinels) left to compete in VCT Champions Seoul, fans will witness the rise of a new champion to mark the end of the 2024 competitive VALORANT season.
