Gears of War fans are gearing up (pun intended) for a brand-new addition to the franchise, Gears of War: E-Day. This is a gritty and bloody game set around the timeframe of Emergence Day, one of the worst in the history of the game. This is by all means an origins story, exploring the lives of some of the more iconic characters in the Gears of War franchise. But what is the Gears of War: E-Day release date? Stay tuned, as it’s not as close as some would have hoped.

What do we know about the Gears of War: E-Day release date?

At the time of writing this article, there is no confirmed release date for Gears of War: E-Day. The game is rumored to be releasing by the end of 2025, but could be pushed back to 2026 for reasons yet to be confirmed. When Microsoft announced the game at the 2024 Xbox Showcase, no information was included about the release date, leaving players to speculate when the game could be coming out.

All the details

Microsoft has been keeping all things Gears of War close to their chest, with only one trailer being released thus far, with nothing about the development stage of E-Day. All we know so far from the Steam landing page is that will game requires a 64-bit processor and operating system. And with the game moving to Unreal Engine 5, you can expect this game to be intense, and that you’ll need a good PC to run it.

Unreal Engine 5 is no joke; most, if not all, of the games that are used on Unreal Engine 5 are games that require a high-end PC, like Black Myth Wukong, for example. That game works best on high-end machines, and having one on the lower end will not be a great experience for you.

As for the other consoles, it’s obviously going to be coming out on the Xbox since we got the trailer at the Xbox Showcase. But what about the PlayStation? With the improved relationship and other deals, it wouldn’t be a shock to see Sony get their hands on the new Gears of War title. We have seen it in the past with another major Xbox title in Forza. This was an exclusive title for the green side, but now the game is available on the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. With Gears of War being another staple franchise for the Xbox, we could very well see our favorite characters on team blue.

If we have done enough to pique your interest, then take a look at this awesome trailer to show you a glimpse of what you can expect with Gears of War: E-Day:
