We’re approaching the conclusion of the Skyesports Championship 2024, with just four teams remaining and with a chance of winning the lion’s share of the $300,000 prize pool. Going into today’s action, Eternal Fire and Aurora had already secured a Semi-Finals berth, and it was 3DMAX and The MongolZ who will be joining them tomorrow.
We’re taking a look at how both teams overcame the opposition in the Skyesports Championship 2024 Quarter-Finals. We also had Bryan Francis on the ground in Mumbai to get a few words from the likes of gla1ve and Techno after their respective matches!
3DMAX walk over ENCE
We mentioned yesterday that ENCE had struggled throughout the Skyesports Championship 2024 Group Stage, despite making it to Playoffs. They needed to improve to have a chance of beating an in-form 3DMAX, who have only lost at the hands of Eternal Fire so far throughout the tournament. ENCE couldn’t do that, and they were punished with a swift 2:0 series defeat.
3DMAX were certainly impressive all around, but it was IGL Maka who led from the front with an impressive 40:22 series. When your leader is producing numbers like this, you’re always going to be tough to take down under any circumstances.
We got to catch up with gla1ve after the match, who claimed ENCE “got caught off guard” by 3DMAX’s approach, and “when it came to CT, we didn’t really get going,” lamenting how much space was given to the French team. Speaking of the team’s future, gla1ve also promised, “it will be better when we have a bit more understanding of how we want to play.” Despite the loss here in Mumbai, we’re excited to see what ENCE can do when the likes of podi and sdy are fully up to speed with the team’s ideas.
The MongolZ inch out AMKAL
Going into this matchup, The MongolZ were certainly favorites to take down AMKAL. While that’s exactly how it transpired in the 2:0 series, these were two competitive maps that really could have gone either way.
Once again, it was The MongolZ’s IGL bLitz who had the highlights here, putting in massive numbers and showing why he’s one of the most underrated leaders in the game right now. Our very own Bryan Francis was able to speak with The MongolZ’s Techno, who had a few words about the game against AMKAL:
“Towards the end of the map, we were on our toes. We were 9-3 down at the end of the first half, which made things quite tough. The second half of Mirage consisted of some scary rounds. Each time we had a man advantage, the team was able to secure the round. During the 22nd round, we were in a 2v4 situation, but we secured the round and ended the day with a win.”
Techno also felt that The MongolZ “are slowly finding ourselves during the tournament,” after a tough return from the player break “where we weren’t performing,” in his own words. With Eternal Fire up next for The MongolZ, they’ll be hoping they’re in top form for what is sure to be a tough Semi-Final clash at the Skyesports Championship 2024.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Semi-Final matches at the Skyesports Championship 2024, which are:
Eternal Fire vs. The MongolZ
Aurora vs. 3DMAX
