The UK is finally getting a new Smash Major. This week, it’s been announced that a big expansion is coming to the Regen 2024 gaming festival. The event has been around for a while, taking place in the Midlands. However, a new Smash Bros esports Major will now be taking place at the event as it moves to a new home.
It’s not just a smaller Smash event with some boosted stakes though. The Regen 2024 Smash Major is going to feature some pretty big players attending. It’ll be the most important UK event in Smash Bros esports in quite a while. This is what we’ve learned about the tournament.

Regen 2024 Smash Major
Regen has been an event held in Birmingham for the last few years, but in 2024 it’s having a boost. The event will be moving over to Leicester. While Birmingham has now lost EGX and Regen in pretty close succession, the event will now take place at a different venue. Regen has already grown quite a bit. The event will feature the biggest Smash Bros tournament that we’ve seen in the UK for quite a while.
The Regen 2024 Smash tournament is going to be featuring players from across the world. There are quite a few of the top Smash Bros players already signed up to attend. That includes Gluttony, and MKLeo, two of the players who have been dominating tournaments for years in Smash Bros Ultimate. There are others too who have been rising up the ranks lately too, like bloon4Eva and Luugi.
With this spread of players, Regen 2024 is going to be one of the biggest tournaments we’ve had for fighting games in the UK. It’s not just Smash though. The competition will see things happening in loads of different games along with quite a few extra activities. Smash might be the biggest, but there will also be events for Mario Kart, Pokémon, and even the Rivals 2.
Talking about this year’s growth, managing director of Team Regen William Savage said “The scale of this event is on a whole different level to anything seen in this space before. The Athena is a stunning venue right in the city centre. I’m immensely proud of everything the team has been able to create and I can’t wait to see everyone at what will be our best event yet.”
This Smash Bros tournament will make Regen 2024 one of the can’t miss events for platform fighters this year.
