The official Splitgate X account dropped an update today that the popular arena shooter was getting a sequel; Splitgate 2 is coming to all major consoles and PC in 2025.
Splitgate 2 is coming to all major platforms in 2025
You can already wishlist the new game on platforms like Steam and the sequel to the first Splitgate game has already started to drum up hype. The original released to solid fanfare as a spiritual successor to Halo’s arena shooters, with similar gunplay and level design. The twist? Portals. Functioning the same way as Valve’s puzzle series, players can adjust their positioning and gunplay using bi-directional portals.
Being a multiplayer only title, the game did have a struggle to maintain a viable playerbase after it hit the ground running. Eventually, next/current generation consoles of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series would join the roster of available platforms with crossplay.
As a result, you can expect Splitgate 2 to be crossplay on launch since they’ve already been doing it for years.
As one of those games that’s easy to pick up, but hard to master, once betas go live, the playing field is going to be spread. Interested players can “become an MVP” and get exclusive content, in-game rewards and early updates about what the next Splitgate title has in store.
Splitgate 2 App
As part of their attempt to build an ecosystem, developers 1047 Games have also launched a companion app. It features collectible cards as well as a look at their Splitgate universe comics. Lore and story content for the Halo universe is one of the things that’s helped the series stay relevant when titles leave fans divided. Splitgate following suit with a mobile friendly comic format might be the next addition to the series that helps it explode, and keep its long term playerbase.
When is Splitgate 2 coming out?
At the time of writing we have no specific Splitgate 2 release date, just the window of 2025. Splitgate will be coming to PC on Epic Games and Steam, launching alongside PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series X|S.
