Ubisoft has revealed its post-launch Season Pass Roadmap for Star Wars Outlaws, and there’s some disappointing news for fans of the smooth-talking smuggler Lando Calrissian. The character will only be available to those who pick up a new expansion pack. However, Lando isn’t the only new addition coming post-launch – read on to find out more!

We’re still a few weeks away from the release of Star Wars Outlaws. Yet, we already have a small look at Ubisoft’s post-launch plans for the game with its Season Pass Roadmap. The offerings will be as follows:

Jabba’s Gambit (Exclusive Mission, available on launch day)
Kessel Runner (Character Pack, available on launch day)
Hunter’s Legacy (Cosmetic Bundle, available fall 2024)
Cartel Ronin (Cosmetic Bundle, available fall 2024)
Wild Card (Story Pack, available Fall 2024)
A Pirate’s Fortune (Story Pack, available Spring 2025)

The two things that really catch the eye here are the Story Packs. “Wild Card” will focus on protagonist Kay Vess’ encounter with Lando Calrissian, while A Pirate’s Fortune will introduce the popular Star Wars animation character Hondo Ohnaka into the game.

Should Lando and Hondo be paywalled?

Given this duo are very popular among Star Wars fans, the question must be raised: should Lando and Hondo be behind a paywall? There’s no indication that either will appear in the base game (unlike the Jabba mission controversy that unfolded a while back), meaning it seems the only way players can interact with them is to pay more money to Ubisoftt.

If Star Wars Outlaws wants to be the best Star Wars game, realistically, it needs characters that fans can recognize. They make the universe feel connected, without making it feel small. Putting fan-favorite characters behind this paywall makes the experience categorically worse, so it’s a shame to see it has taken this route.

Star Wars Outlaws’ pricing problem

This Season Pass roadmap confirms what many gamers already knew: Star Wars Outlaws has a pricing problem. With the Gold and Ultimate Editions priced at $109.99 and $129.99 respectively, it’s not unfair to say that they’re a ludicrous expense.

Both Editions come with the Season Pass, which will grant players both new expansion packs when they’re released. However, players will expect something big to justify a $40 (minimum) upgrade on the base version of Star Wars Outlaws. We’re not quite sure that the Season Pass, some in-game cosmetics, and a digital art book are worth $129.99, but that’s just our take.

What do you think? Do you reckon Star Wars Outlaws is grossly overpriced in its Special Editions? Or will you be picking the game up and think it’s worth that extra outlay? Remember, if it doesn’t go well, you can always head back to the recently released Star Wars: Bounty Hunter remaster for a hit of nostalgia instead.
