TES vs JDG – fighting for Worlds

While they are not the best teams in the LPL right now, both JDG and TES are strong contenders for a spot at Worlds 2024. On one hand, TES wants to continue its streak of participation at international tournaments this year, following their presence at MSI and their unexpected win at the Esports World Cup. On the other, JDG is looking desperately to show up in Europe later this year, after the dominance showed last season (LPL Spring and Summer champions, as well as MSI winners) until they were eliminated by T1 in the semifinals at Worlds 2023.

And with BLG, LNG, and WBG in the mix as well, there are quite a few competitive teams competing for just four slots at the World Championship. Without further ado, let’s go right into the breakdown of the series and see how the two teams have done so far.

Match breakdown

This is probably one of the toughest series to predict given that both teams can easily beat the other if they show up on form. On one hand, Top Esports has looked strong in the new double carry meta with Creme and Jackeylove often shining. Tian has been consistently delivering strong performances and has shown he’s a key element in the team’s success.

Similarly, JDG relies on Kanavi and Ruler to do the same thing, especially now in a super-heavy jungle carry meta. The jungle is going to be the key matchup of this entire series: whoever is enabled first will likely take the team to victory. Based on recent performances, I would probably favor JDG slightly over TES, but it will ultimately come down to the drafts. I would be surprised to see any of the two taking a 2-0 victory, as a 2-1 is a much more reasonable result.
