Reworked Facets & Innate Ability Changes in Patch 7.39
Alongside the Spring Forward Update, Patch 7.39 overhauled multiple Dota 2 facet and innate abilities for a broad roster of Dota 2 heroes, shifting the dynamics and gameplay for these heroes. Below are the key highlights:
- Abaddon gains Malignant Mist in place of Mephitic Shroud, while Withering Mist now purely reduces overall Health Restoration.
- Batrider ’s Stoked Facet turns Firefly into a self-burn that grants rising movement speed and spell amp bonuses over its duration, and Arsonist ups Sticky Napalm’s max level for extra stickiness.
- Bloodseeker trades his Bloodrush Facet for Old Blood, granting Bloodrage the ability to silence and amplify base damage when cast on foes
- Disruptor picks up Transferrence, a toggle that lets him convert health into a damage pulse linked to his Electromagnetic Repulsion ability
- Earthshaker ’s new Resonating Ridge echoes Fissure stuns into mini-Echo Slam blasts, and his old passive Slugger is now innate
- Grimstroke ’s Fine Art Facet unleashes a mirrored Stroke of Fate for dual-direction damage
- Io gains an innate Wellspring that doubles the speed of consumable restores, with total values unchanged
- Lich ‘s Sinister Gaze now applies an “Evil Eye” debuff that deals bonus damage whenever Lich deals magic damage and amplifies any movement slows by 50%. The debuff can linger up to twice the channel duration
- Silencer has two new facets, Synaptic Split (replaces Irrepressible) increases Glaives of Wisdom’s max level to 5, and Suffer in Silence (replaces Reverberating Silence) grants Silencer bonus damage against silenced targets and reduces incoming damage from them.
- Similarly, Sand King also got two new facets, Sandblast (replaces Sandshroud) causes Sand Storm attacks to blind enemies for 5 seconds, and Final Sting (replaces Dust Devil) that makes inner-radius Stinger hits trigger a weakened Caustic Finale explosion.
Biggest Facet Changes in Dota 2 Patch 7.39
Meanwhile these heroes have more significant facet changes that will surely be disruptive in-game:
- Clockwerk ‘s new Dota 2 facet, Chainmeal, lets him consume the item, Chainmail, which grants a permanent +4 armor. What makes this absurd is that there’s no limit to it and it stacks. Note that Clockwerk’s hero model size also increases as he eats more Chainmails
- While Wukong’s Command is active, Monkey King gains a “Changing of the Guard” ability. It allows him to swap places with one of his soldiers for 1.5 seconds, becoming indistinguishable and invulnerable. However, he won’t be able to issue commands.
- Muerta ‘s Dead Shot now boosts Gunslinger’s proc chance by 1.5× on feared enemies for 5 seconds, and each Gunslinger proc reduces Dead Shot’s cooldown by 1 second
- Nature’s Prophet ‘s reworked facet was definitely a much-needed change since he became a top pick in ESL Raleigh 2025 . With his new facet, Soothing Saplings, Sprout now enchants all trees in a large radius to emit a healing aura, unfortunately, no longer heals buildings, but with a stronger per-second heal for allies. He also receives another new facet, called Nature’s Profit (replaces the overpowered Ironwood Treant). When an enemy hero dies near Nature’s Prophet, a money tree spawns after 2 seconds, dropping gold bags over its 3-second lifespan and providing double Tango healing.
- Phantom Assassin ‘s new innate ability, Blur, now scales with Coup de Grace level, isn’t dispelled by proximity to outposts or Watchers, and when upgraded by Aghanim’s Shard, it cuts its cooldown and refreshes PA’s abilities on hero kills.
- Finally, Spirit Breaker has a reworked ability, Planar Pocket. It is now a unit-targeted spell that grants 75% magic resistance and redirects enemy single-target spells cast on the target toward Spirit Breaker.
Heroes with highest win rates in Dota 2 Patch 7.39 after one day
While there were only several Dota 2 heroes that received new facets and abilities, the meta did not take long to shift towards heroes with major buffs. Notably, the meta has significantly resulted where Brewmaster and Venomancer are the strongest heroes so far in Dota 2 Patch 7.39
However, despite the high increase in performance, his overall winrate is still only 48.27% due to his difficulty.
The most impressive results are shown by Brewmaster with a win rate of 52.77% and Venomancer with a score of 53.29% . Also breaking into the meta are Terrorblade and Omniknight, whose match win rate jumped by 4%. Undying also breaks into the leaderboard with an impressive 54.69% matchmaking win rate in Dota 2.
Neutral Items Changes in Patch 7.39
As for neutral items, items such as Orb of Destruction, Pig Pole, Trusty Shovel, Gossamer Cape, Iron Talon, Nemesis Curse, Ninja Gear, Ceremonial Robe, Mind Breaker, Ogre Seal Totem, Magic Lamp, and Priate Hat have been removed in patch 7.39.
In exchange, we received eight new Neutral items that have unique effects. Notably, the tier-1 item, Dormant Curio , is an effectless item that will improve the potency of the other tiers’ items by 30%
The Sister’s Shroud lets the hero gain 200% evasion for 8 seconds if their health drops below 50%. It works like a budget Aeon Disc, which is phenomenal for support heroes. The Outworld Staff exiles the user for 0.7 seconds, much like Outworld Devourer’s ability. And the Divine Regalia increases outgoing damage by 20% but its effects are disabled permanently upon death. Other items include Kobold Cup, Jidi Pollen Bag, Dezun Bloodrite , and Giant’s Maul.
In addition to these heroes and neutral item changes, note that there are several terrain changes across the Dota 2 map, so be sure to explore in-game and enjoy the new Sprint Forward 2025 Update. And with such a big update to the game, it’s sure to affect ongoing tournaments like DreamLeague Season 26 and the upcoming Dota 2 EWC event.
