Mojang, the developer of Minecraft, has revealed a new mob, The Creaking, and a new biome, The Pale Garden, as part of Minecraft Live. Mojang also unveiled Bedrock Hardcore mode, and the release of Bundles as two new “drops” as they’ve been dubbed, unveiled during the Minecraft Live 2024 steam on Sep. 28.
The first drop, entitled Bundles of Bravery, will add Hardcore Mode to Bedrock edition and incorporate the long-awaited Bundles to the game. Hardcore Mode is a single-life mode that’s been a staple of the Java edition of the game.
The second drop, The Pale Garden, will add the new biome and the new creature The Creaking, as well as a host of new blocks and features.
The Pale Garden Biome
The Pale Garden Biome is a new forest biome that adds new Pale Trees with a Pale Oak Wood composition. The Pale Garden will also feature Hanging Moss and Moss Blocks. The whole area will be desaturated with an eerie feel, as well as unique ambient sounds linked to the blocks.
But beyond this, there’s a new mob that only appears at night in The Pale Garden – The Creaking.
The Creaking
Is a tree-like monster who lives exclusively in the Pale Garden. The Creaking can’t move while you’re looking at it, seems quite durable, and can’t be killed by normal means. That’s because a Creaking is powered via The Creaking Heart, a living block that exists within the Pale Oak trees.
Destroying the Creaking Heart kills nearby Creakings, although this may change in the future. You can also use Silktouch on the Creaking Heart which may allow you to spawn Creakings elsewhere in the world.
The Creaking has already been compared to some other notable monsters from fiction including the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who and SCP-173 from the SCP Foundation.
While no solid date was given for the addition of any of these features, they’re likely to be released for the game in the next few months as per the announcement. Additionally, The Creaking, Pale Garden, and other blocks will be coming to Minecraft beta and snapshot modes soon.
