According to the stats posted by Riot Games, Trace Esports had the lowest number of players selecting them to qualify for the playoffs. Only 10% of fans voted that Trace Esports would qualify for the playoffs. We had placed the team in quite a low spot within our own power rankings.

In their first match, they defeated Team Vitality in an incredible best-of-3. LEVIATÃN, on the other hand, was one of the favorites to win it all.

Game 1 was played on the map of Bind, which was the pick of Trace Esports. They decided to play the Cypher, Deadlock team composition used by other teams on this map and on Ascent. One of the sole reasons for this is that their abilities have no range limit. Due to this Deadlock can place her sonic sensors on A site and play on B site without worrying about wasting her abilities. On Deadlock, Ho Shun “heybay” Hei secured an incredible 1v2 to clutch and help his team win 13-11.

Game 2 was played on the map of Sunset, which was the map pick for LEVIATÁN. Erick “aspas” Santos played Neon on this map and stole the show. In round 10, he dodged every ability using the Neon dash and secured a 4K. Following this, LEVIATÁN never lost the lead and won the map 13-9.

Game 3 was an unexpected clean sweep by Trace Esports. They won the map with a scoreline of 13-5. One must note that LEVIATÁN used the Cypher Deadlock composition but couldn’t make the most out of it. Lu “Kai” Zhinan ended the map with a KDA of 19/10/5 and five first-bloods, which made him the MVP.

The second match of day 6 was another faceoff between teams from VCT Americas and VCT CN in the VALORANT Champions 2024. It was between G2 Esports and EDward Gaming. Going into this match, both teams defeated their prior opponents with a score of 2-0.

Game 1 was played on Icebox, which was G2 Esports’ map pick. Using their Harbor Viper composition, they managed to defeat Paper Rex. It did look like EDward Gaming had scouted their tactics thoroughly, as they won the first six rounds in a row. Jacob “icy” Lange won an important 1v2 clutch in round 20. Sadly, it wasn’t enough as EDward Gaming won the map 13-8.

G2 Esports went on to win the next two maps with a scoreline of 13-11. The one major highlight during this game was the mentality shown by Nathan “Leaf” Orf. During the Paper Rex game, he proved why he is one of the best aimers in the tournament. During the second map, he had seven first kills to his name while playing Killjoy. In the match, he had gotten two 3Ks to his name, helping his team complete the reverse sweep and secure into the playoffs.
