Eight have become four, as the EWC 2024 CS2 Quarter-Finals have removed another set of teams from the ongoing tournament. We’ve had one of the biggest shocks of the tournament here, with Virtus.pro managing to beat Vitality – let’s take a look at how they did it, and more!
Virtus.pro shock Vitality

In our preview of the EWC 2024 CS2 Quarter-Finals, we had Vitality down as slight favorites here based on star power alone. However, we knew that based on form at the Esports World Cup 2024 so far, there was a good chance Virtus.pro would put up a massive challenge here. Because of this, we’re not exactly shocked to see Virtus.pro take down Vitality in a close 2:1 series, despite being underdogs on paper.
While you can look at Virtus.pro’s huge numbers in the form of Jame, n0rb3r7, and FL1T, that isn’t where this game was decided. Ultimately, ZywOo just had no help on the Vitality side, which was reminiscent of hard-carried versions of the team in years gone by. He can win matches all by himself, but even 70 kills across the three maps wasn’t enough for Vitality to close this series out.
NAVI swiftly topple FaZe Clan

NAVI vs. FaZe was our most anticipated match of the EWC 2024 Quarter-Finals, although it proved to be something of an anti-climax. 2:0 was the score in favor of NAVI, and while the individual map scores might look close, don’t be fooled – these were the result of two FaZe Clan comebacks that ultimately amounted to nothing.

While iM and jL struggled to get going for NAVI, Ukrainian duo b1t and w0nderful were there to save the day. The pair never once looked troubled by FaZe, whose performance can be summed up by karrigan’s presence at the top of the leaderboard. When your stars don’t show up, you can’t win Counter-Strike matches – it’s as simple as that.
Elsewhere, MOUZ took down FURIA in a close 2:1 matchup to secure the last Semi-Final spot at the EWC 2024. Who do you think will come out on top when all is said and done?
