MultiVersus lives up to its Multi-verse promise, bringing in characters from all around the worlds of pop culture. What about characters you can play for free though? Like a lot of free fighting games, the title has a number of characters that are available to players without spending anything. These aren’t static though. If you don’t want to purchase your main, they could rotate out. However, this also means everyone gets to try a bit of the cast with the MultiVersus free rotation.
Like a lot of free-to-play fighters, it rotates those MultiVersus fighters that are free. Each week, a different set of characters are available for free. Most players probably won’t purchase the whole roster. Picking up your main is a wise move, but for the rest of the roster you might be relying on the MultiVersus free rotation to test characters out in live games.

MultiVersus Free Rotation July 31- August 6

Another batch of free characters are here for the week. This latest refresh includes some of the top picks in MultiVersus, but also some characters we’ve only seen added recently. If you haven’t tried any of the Season 1 additions yet, then the MultiVersus free rotation is going to give you the chance to try out new additions like Jason. These are the characters featured this week:

These fighters are only available for a week! Given that it’s switching over characters quite so regularly though, we can probably expect at least a few of these to cycle back in soon. With the MultiVersus roster we have and four free slots, we’re bound to get quite a few repeats while we build up to new characters like Beetlejuice in MultiVersus release.

Another batch of MultiVersus free rotation characters are here for the start of Season 2! This is a particularly interesting batch. One of the Season 1 characters that were new additions has been added to the free rotation. Great if you spend most of last season looking wistfully at those shelling out cash for a few more fighters. These are the characters for this week of play:

This is a nice bit of variety here. There are new characters in Joker, but some older MultiVersus fighters like Jake. They’re only here for a week though, so test them out while you can.

Another batch of new characters is here. Who do the free-to-play players have to get to know this week? This time around we’ve got a handful of fighters, including Batman and Fin. These are the free characters at the moment:

Those are the free characters. It can be frustrating if your style of play doesn’t suit one week’s selections. However, this rotation has its benefits. If you’re trying out everyone free, you’re learning more about the move sets and details of the entire cast. This can make a stronger player in the long run.
Learning more characters is key to getting better at fighting games, and the MultiVersus free character rotation can be a great way to get to know the cast without needing every fighter.
MultiVersus Free Rotation July 9-16th

Another round of free characters is here for this week. This time, it’s a nice mix of different archetypes. We’ve got some of the best MultiVersus characters available for free this week. These are the selections:

This is an interesting mix. We’ve got up-close assassins along with brawlers like Batman. A couple have some nice projectile moves too if you want an intro to zoning with the MultiVersus free rotation this week. Each of these will be available until July 16th. As usual though, you can always unlock a character directly if you really gel with one of them during this rotation period.

These are the new MultiVersus free character rotation. It’s an interesting batch this week. We’ve got a couple of characters who were late additions to the Open Beta, great for long-time free players to finally try out. Then there’s Wonder Woman who was kind of free for a lot of players the first time around. This will be a fun change for anyone over the coming week before we get another batch.
With the MultiVersus free character rotation changing around every week, we’re running through characters fast. The upcoming MultiVersus Mid-season patch is bringing in a new character. With how quickly we’re seeing these rotated though will likely have tried every one out in the free rotation pretty soon.

Compared to last week there’s quite a bit more variety in this set-up. We’ve got characters who span each of the archetypes offered by MultiVersus. These characters will be here for another week. Long enough to try them out and maybe figure out a new character to try and aim for when you’re working up to your next unlock.

This round of characters is going to be active for free between June 18 to the 25th. Then we’ll get another new batch. Each of these is available for free in the meantime though. Some of these are pretty fun, so check them out if you don’t already have them unlocked.

Which MultiVersus characters are available right now? This is the current rotation for the game’s roster:

These are characters who represent a decent spread of what the game has to offer. There are really unique fighters like LeBron, but also characters like Finn who fit an archetype you’d recognize from the Smash Bros roster. This current MultiVersus free rotation also includes Shaggy, who you get for completing the tutorial. This is a permanent free character, so they’re not technically part of the rotation.
This is the new MultiVersus free rotation. Up until the 12th, we had these characters available.

How Does Rotation Work?
The characters in the MultiVersus free rotation are those that are available for free. Or, those available right now. It changes up each week.
The MultiVersus free rotation is the characters we can play for free each week. These change periodically. Before the MultiVersus beta ended, these rotations lasted for a bit over two weeks. In this version of the game, it’s supposed to be every week. So, you can try out new fighters each week.

In addition to these characters, there are two more some players can use for free. We’ve already mentioned Shaggy, the current MultiVersus free character. However, Wonder Woman may be free for some too. Those who played in the initial beta and unlocked her have kept hold of the character. So older players might have even more to choose from.
