Dota 2’s ongoing event, Crownfall, has entered its final half, with Act 4’s release date soon on the horizon. With players having already sped through much of the third act, and discovered the secrets, many are looking towards the next act of Crownfall.
There’s a lot to be excited for Crownfall Act 4, now that the event has extended till October 16. This means Crownfall overlaps with the International 2024 (TI13), which spans from September 4-15, where Valve likely has exciting announcements in store for us.
When Does Crownfall Act 4 Release?
There’s no official release date for Crownfall Act 4 at the moment, but given the current length of the acts, and the extended date, we’re predicting a late August to mid-September release window. This is a pretty significant period of time, but we’re working on Valve time here, so it’s hard to pin down a date unless they give us one.
What To Expect In Crownfall Act 3
New Hero?
While it’s slightly comical to imagine that we are might get a new hero release when Ringmaster, which Valve announced approximately a year ago, still hasn’t made his debut. In Valve’s defence, however, Ringmaster’s skillset seems to be very complex and may involve every Dota 2 hero, much like Rubick’s Spell Steal.
Instead, various speculations on his skills include the ability to control other heroes to do his bidding. For instance, in his initial teaser, he used some form of puppeteering mechanism to control Axe. Additionally, the data miners also uncovered unreleased voice lines from Dota 2 heroes interacting with Ringmaster, such as Mars’ “Get out of my head!” and “No one controls a god while I’m around!”
Still, Valve has also release surprise heroes, linked to events, before. Remember Primal Beast? The big boss of Aghs Labyrinth was released as a hero after the conclusion of the event.
Scree’Auk?
While Ringmaster’s release during in Crownfall, Act 4, is uncertain, another new hero may also be announced, plausibly during TI13. Scree’Auk is a companion to the protagonist, who adventured alongside Shen (Vengeful Spirit) to Icewrack in the Crownfall Act 3 comic. Her hero design is of an old crane donning a large, flowing cape… and sharing an uncanny resemblance to the villain, Lord Shen from Kung Fu Panda 2.
We don’t know much about her skillset yet, since she hasn’t shown any abilities in the comics (partially due to giving her powers away). However, considering the detail that went into showcasing her cranky attitude and character design, he could be the upcoming Dota 2 hero.
Mini Games and Crownfall Act 4 Quests
The Dota 2 dev team seems to have no shortage of innovative mini games to release, especially after the success of Sleet Fighters, Dragon Chess and the Fishing Activities. Expect more impressive content in Act 4 as the Crownfall event finally comes to an end.
Of course, alongside these mini games and quests, come exclusive rewards, such as an Immortal item, well-made sets in Crownfall Treasure IV and hopefully, custom terrains or creeps.
Crownfall Collector’s Cache 2?
The community has voted for 248 workshop sets, of which only 16 were added. Hence, it would make sense that Valve is looking to release Crownfall Collector’s Cache 2 for another cash injection.
Following the first collector’s cache success from its unique sets and Hero Base slots for Pudge and Juggernaut Arcana. Many Dota 2 players are eagerly hoping for Valve to also make similar Arcana Effect slots for other heroes that have an Arcana, such as Lina, Faceless Void, Zeus and others.
Juggernaut Persona?
We haven’t gotten a new persona for a while now, but fortunately, Valve hasn’t abandoned this cosmetic feature yet. There are multiple Easter eggs throughout the Crownfall comics, that made fans speculate about potential new personas. For instance, Juggernaut’s sister, whom he mentioned to have survived the culling of his people. Additionally, there is also a female Axe.
The final Act of Crownfall 2024 will hopefully go out with a bang as the Dota 2 dev team make their final preparations. It’s been a successful event overall, and they have certainly proved that they are capable of creating fun events without focusing exclusively on Battle Pass cosmetics. We could expect Crownfall Act 4 release date to be around mid-September, which should give it approximately a month’s duration, similar to past Acts’ duration. This also seem to coincide with the end of TI13 on September 15, so this estimated timeline seems very plausible.
