Sivir counters in LoL – the top three picks

Sivir is one of the OG champions in the League of Legends roster. Despite her simple and friendly kit, she packs a lot of power once she scales into the late game. Her wave clearing is second to none as she can spread incredible AoE damage with her boomerang. In this guide, we will be looking at the best three Sivir counters, so you know what and how to play against her.

If you’re fairly new to the game, check out our guide on how counter picks work in League of Legends. You will understand why counter picks are important, and how you need to take advantage of them to increase your win rate. Make sure to also understand how classes counter one another in LoL so you always know what to pick in each game.

Kog’Maw – the best counter

Just like Sivir, Kog’Maw is a late-game scaling champion so the two champions will equal one another later on. The main difference, however, is that Kog’Maw will have more range thanks to his W, allowing him to get a big advantage during key teamfights.

Twitch – the alternative

Twitch is also another great alternative you can always opt for. While he doesn’t have the same level of DPS as Sivir, he has the ultimate to bring more burst damage. His laning phase should be also quite chill against Sivir since both they won’t be able to impact one another that much.

Jhin – the lane bully

Jhin is one of the strongest ADCs in the current meta so it’s not surprising to see him win against Sivir. Unlike the other two, though, you’re looking to bully out Sivir from the start of the game, taking advantage of the enemy’s weak laning phase. Trade aggressively and you should be able to come out on top most of the time.

Worst Sivir counters

Varus – the worst matchup

Now that Varus doesn’t have access to his lethality build anymore, he will usually be at a disadvantage with his attack speed build. Not only can Sivir spell shield one of his abilities (and deny the extra damage from the passive) but he won’t be able to match her DPS at two items or more. Avoid it when possible.

Nilah – a bad choice

While Nilah scales fairly similarly to Sivir, the latter has too much wave clear and movement speed to draw distance from the enemy. At an even state, Nilah will get an XP lead but she will still struggle whenever teamfights are about to happen due to her lack of range.

How do you counter Sivir with the items?

If you don’t want to waste time on LoL and lose again and again, you’ll need to think about items too. When going up against Twitch, it’s recommended to stack a mix of armor and health. Below is a list of items to build you should consider, based on the class of champion you’re playing:

Bruisers: Guardian Angel, Death Dance, Randuin’s Omen, Frozen Heart
AD assassins: Guardian Angel, Death Dance
ADC champions: Guardian Angel
AP champions: Zhonya’s Hourglass
Tanks: Randuin’s Omen, Thornmail, Frozen Heart, Dead Man’s Plate

What Champion counters Sivir?

The three best counters are Kog’Maw, Twitch, and Jhin. Other strong counters include Samira, Lucian, and Ashe.

Does Jinx counter Sivir?

Jinx and Sivir are more of a skill matchup rather than counters. Both will scale fairly well into the late game but it ultimately comes down to whoever is enabled first. Jinx will need the passive to overcome Sivir’s DPS. On the other hand, Sivir needs to be well-positioned at the start of the fight and hit as much damage onto as many targets as possible at any given point of the game.
