Cloud9 edge out Zero Tenacity in tight series

CS2 tournament Grand Finals rarely come tighter than this. This series began on Anubis, where Cloud9 were able to take the map 13:10. It was a map defined by small margins, and Zero Tenacity didn’t let it get the better of them. They bounced back on map two of Dust2, although it took overtime to separate the two teams. With Zero Tenacity taking map two 16:13, it was all to play for going into the Inferno decider. Cloud9 were probably left feeling like they should have closed things out in two, but that wasn’t how it went down.
Coming into Inferno, Cloud9 had a point to prove. They dominated the first half, ending an impressive T-side 9:3. Despite this, we still needed all 24 rounds to find our winner here, with Cloud9 emerging 13:11 winners after almost throwing a huge lead. We’ve had Cloud9 as our favorites to progress throughout this entire EU Qualifier, and it’s good to see they eventually got the job done.

Looking at the numbers throughout the series, it was Cloud9’s big stars who came through to secure the win against Zero Tenacity. The trio of HeavyGod, ICY, and Ax1Le all finished the series with great statlines, and with players of this quality, you’re always in with a shot of winning any game. Heading to the main event, we can’t wait to see what these three can do when tested against top opposition.
With the six Thunderpick World Championship 2024 qualifier teams decided, the remaining 10 teams will be invited to the event before its start on October 1st.
